I recently signed up for a MobileMe account to test the contact and calendar syncing features. I'm thinking about getting an iPhone and I thought this might be a good way to sync my calendar to it.

I currently use Apple Mail and iCal against an IMAP service (which I operate). I regularly receive appointments as ICS attachments and I add them to my iCal calendar. This all works just fine.

So I started syncing to MobileMe, but what I noticed was that all the received ICS appointments I could not read in MobileMe. If I click on them it warns me that I can't edit a read only appointment. This is all fine, but I can't read/view the information about the appointment either. All I can see is the subject.

I worked with their help and they confirmed that this is the way it works.

How is this calendar syncing of any possible value if you can't see details of received appointments? I was shocked. I was also hoping it would act as a backup of my calendar. But again, if I can't see the details of synced appointments, what value is it?

Is this really the way MobileMe is designed to work? Or am I missing something here?

Thanks.
