I was under the impression from reading something here that I can no longer find that anyone who purchased an iPhone 3G would receive some kind of free trial for MobileMe. Is this true, can anyone point me to where this is or isn't on the Apple site?

Thanks.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/4A102 Safari/419.3)

There is a 60 day trial regardless of purchasing a 3G iPhone.

Nice...really nice. I think I will add mobileme to my status if it works as Apple says it will.

yep. you can do that!

I didn't renew my .mac account last year. Could I open a me account and use my original username?

Yes you can. I signed up for a .mac account using an old expired username that I had tried in the past, and it converted just fine to a full account. :)

fyi, i bought a .mac box in an apple store and then used the code - when you redeem the code it asks if you want to convert an existing account or start a new one. It's pretty sweet.

Hope this helps!

I just signed up for a .mac account right now...free for 60 days...so far it's pretty cool..but I'm ready for it to switch to mobileme! come on July 11th!!

If I wanted to try the Mobile Me trial would I have to change ?my email adress to me.com?

I have a quick question that is kinda off topic...

I tried .Mac a while ago for 60 days, do you think that I'll be able to try Mobile Me for 60 days or not?

I'm in the same situation as joshcampbell115, about 2 years ago I did the 60 day trial of .mac when I purchased my iMac. I didn't seem to use .mac enough to make it worth the money the way it was, but I would like to try the mobile me, and will probably purchase this. I'm guessing I should wait until I get the new iPhone and the service turns into mobile me and then see if my eligibility for the trial has been reset.

Can someone give me advice if i really need a MobileMe service ? I mean what can I really use it for. I have two other accounts with Gmail and Yahoo and I have one given to me by my college. How can I tell if I really need a mobile Me?

I'm not sure you get much benefit if you are just using it for email. Yeah you get push email but I personally don't think that is such a big deal.

The real value is being able to sync multiple computers to the iPhone. So having a single calendar, contact list, etc. that all of your devices use and are all in sync.

Chances are if you don't know what it is, and what it's all about, then you don't need it.

So can we get the 60 free trial AND get the $30 discount (as described in this article) or do we only get one or the other?

...iPhone 3G (or Mac) buyers will be able to pick up a year subscription for $69 on July 11th.

You only will get the $30 discount if you buy MobileMe with your iPhone 3G. Thus, there would be no need for the trial.

Can I be a complete n00b and ask what is the fuss with this mobileME? Is it a service like gmail etc or does it offer anything more exciting? thanks!
