we need the data center in NC to open really soon…

Yes. Free MobileMe would be tremendously helpful. Or even if that wasn't in the cards, a $10-$20 a year fee would be much more effective as a result.

I would hope they let us cut clips out of videos in iMovie now. Had to transfer it to my MBP and THEN nip and tuck

Maybe let Remote control my Powerpoint presentation. Unless Keynote is compatible with Microsoft Powerpoint for Mac

Why the hell I can't upload the pictures and video I have on my iPad to my iDisk? With Dropbox I can do that!!!

couldn't get .epub books to open in ibooks, even tried emailing the link then it gave me the option to open in stanza

About Time is RIGHT!

I wrote a blog about this too. Ironically, I had sent Steve an email today asking when Apple would update ITS OWN APP that was virtually unusable on my iPad.

I buy the iPad, pay for the MobileMe service, and purchase Pages/Keynote/Numbers for iPad. Yet, I could not use files on my iDisk for over 5 weeks???

Furthermore, the App was not using the iPad screen in whole, so I could barely read the pixelated documents in my iDisk when I did use it.

It was ridiculous that it took this long, but I am glad it is done.

PS NO! I do not think my email had anything to do with the release. Just an interesting and ironic sequence of events.

I'm preferring Dropbox to iDisk too. And I've just grown so use to its ease of use, right there in my menu bar.

At any rate, I wish either service would provide support for more file types. The ability to view Illustrator [.ai] and/or Photoshop files on the iPhone would be great. Currently, the files I'm working from, at home and on my laptop, that reside in my Dropbox folder, cannot be viewed on the iPhone in either application.

I don't mean to beat the Android drum here because I really prefer the UI of the iOS to anything on the Android side. The big plus to Android, though, is access to the file system and the ability to DL files and then upload them to Dropbox.

I don't know why Apple hasn't implemented this yet, but if there was a simple way to download files from Safari into iDisk and have them available to DL back on desktop, I think MM would then gain some great advantages.

Am I alone on this?

Am I alone on this?

I'm not sure if this could be of any help to you, reubs, but Pixelpipe seems to be a decent application to upload files to your Dropbox or MobileMe (and a ton of other) accounts from the iPhone. I've been using it for a few days and it's worked for me so far. And without file compression for text, photo, video, and audio files. Consequently, it's an option for those that have had issue with Apple's/AT&T's? policy with uploading their HD content w/o being tethered to their PC's.

It's about time

It's about time they updated this app...it has been a little bit of a slap to the face to iPad early adopters like me who purchased mobile me to access and update files remotely on our iPads. This app is great now...just wish it came out at the same time as the iPad!

Update!?

You're right Apple! The update that we're waiting on is to fix the iPhone 4 itself not your mini apps. I can deal with the iMovie app that is just a minor problem give me the firmware update of my iPhone 4, that's all I'm asking!

I can't wait to not read your ******* blog!

PS -- "irony" /= "coincidence"

Like others have said, iDisk is severely hampered by its slow speed. I gave up on it a year ago and switched to Dropbox, which is much faster, very reliable, and doesn't cost me a cent. Apple always claims that since they design both the hardware and software, everything just works better. Not in this case.

This is two months late.

Happy they updated it, but really, the iPad was released in early April. The iPad in revealed in late January and released in early April. Its now early/mid July, and they finally give it to us. Talk about taking their sweet time.

They should really improve everything on that expensive iMovie app. (it's great and all) but need more things to edit with.
Effects and Transitions, and some way we could split clips...

Expensive??? $5?? You spend more than that at Starbucks and you toss that in the toilet a few hours later. :p

$5 is expensive?

I guess it is relative to the App market rather than a desktop software title. I have heard people moan about $2 to $9 App purchases as "Premium" titles. Really? I've bought some of those and use them more often than a lot of desktop titles that start at $45.

Yeah, I agree. Though it is a 1.1 release, I bet there's plenty of stuff that will get added as the app matures.
Hopefully with free updates...

Most of these features should have been made available when the app was first released minus the multitasking IMO
