I'd search if iphone's safari would let me use the search box, but can I refund MobileMe?

    Hate it.

I see its potential, but me owning my own server in my apartment completely defeats my purpose of owning other than the wireless syncing that I personally find to be more than useless.

Has anyone ever walked in the apple store in attempt to get a refund for MobileMe ?

When did you buy it? If it's unopened box they'll do a full refund, if it's opened, then they could do a limited refund i'd imagine, or a pro rata refund. A few have already got refunds due to problems earlier on when it launched.

How long have you had your own server at home? Was it in your home prior to you buying MM? If so, then I'm going to now ask you what you knew about MM when you bought it? I assume you knew something of what MM did at the time. Therefore, the question that begs to be asked now is why in the world would you buy a product that has zero benefit to you and then expect a reund?

Sorry, but at this point I think you're stuck with it. Apple will not take back an open MM box with a MM registration number that you already activated. You are certainly free to inquire within a retail store or call Apple customer service and ask them for a refund, but I would probably say that short of their TOS with you being breached (by them), I doubt it'll work.

I think he is saying that , like many people including myself have done, purchasing mobileme was done to rid the world of seemingly single user home exchange and caldev setups but given that it works sparingly and all over the place when it does (in my experience), it doesn't offer what it advertised except wireless sync (again half time for me).

The MobileMe folks might be able to give you a refund, but I wouldn't expect too much from the retail store. The retail stores have no way of communicating with the MobileMe folks (i.e. to let them know you canceled, etc).

You might have a case if you're still on the two month free trial - or would be, had you registered online. But the real question is why you bought something without doing your research? It's kind of your fault, so don't be surprised if you're stuck with it.

As far as I know, they can only refund it if you paid by credit card.

When I had .mac back in April I cancelled it because iDisk was so slow. They just refunded the amount on my credit card.

I assume the same principle would apply with MobileMe.

    I got a refund

Took it back after two weeks and told the clerk that this software does not do what they said it would do. He hesitated, but gave me a total refund on my charge card.
