A series of 3D printed iPhone 12 mockups designed based on leaked schematics and info from Apple's supply chain was today shared by Japanese site Mac Otakara, giving us a first look at what we can expect from the 2020 iPhone lineup.

Rumors have suggested Apple will release four iPhone 12 models in 2020: A 5.4-inch iPhone 12, a 6.1-inch iPhone 12, a 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The images depict all four sizes, though Mac Otakara's mockup seems to feature a 6.5-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max rather than 6.7-inch version that's been rumored multiple times in the past.

In line with prior rumors, the mockups of the two lower-end devices feature dual-lens camera setups while the higher-end mockups feature a three-lens camera setup similar to the setup of the current Pro models.

Mac Otakara says that the SIM tray that was on the right side of the device in prior iPhone models will be moved to the left side under the volume button.

This is a rumor that we've heard previously, and it seems to be a change that Apple is making to accommodate the 5G antenna module that's expected to be included in all four iPhone 12 models.

The iPhones also appear to have a variable number of speaker holes on each side based on the printed models, and all of the iPhones expected in 2020 will continue to feature Lightning connectors.

At least some of the new iPhone models will feature an iPad Pro-style design with a metal frame that has flat edges, a significant design departure from current models. The higher-end iPhone 12 Pro models are also expected to feature a 3D camera setup similar to the LiDAR Scanner in the iPad Pro, though that does not appear to be depicted in the size mockups provided by Mac Otakara.

Because up to now the non pro ones have been LCD, but as these 4 are all expected to be OLED there’s no reason for thicker bezels.
Yea it’s a rumor website, the are not the iPhone you will be getting, I really hope you understand that, so funny when people blame Apple for rumors.

I'm sure he does understand it, which is why he was pointing out the reason we’re likely to get thinner bezels across the board.

That aside, and not in reference to this individual, but there are people who will blame Apple for anything they can dream up. Hell, they’d probably blame apple for the great potato famine of the 1800’s if they thought they could :D

What’s the point of these ever-increasing screen sizes when Apple doesn’t put functionality in to take advantage of it?

Exactly my thoughts. Seeing these side by side with the same amount of apps is pathetic.

That's my issue with the current Max (vs the old Plus). Take the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max for example. There essentially is no value/feature proposition other than an increase in battery size and resolution. However, due to Apple's choice of odd resolutions for aspect ratio (2436 x 1125, and 2688 x 1242 respectively), the 11 Pro Max still doesn't hit 2560 x 1440p. This is important, because video streaming apps like YouTube don't offer higher resolutions if the phone cannot display them natively.

This is in contrast to the iPhone 7 era (I own a 7 Plus), where the iPhone 7 had a resolution of 1334 x 750 and could only do 720p natively, whereas the 7 Plus was an exact 1920 x 1080 full HD. The value proposition was definitely there.

If the 12 Pro Max doesn't achieve 1440p, I'll be going with just a 12 Pro. And honestly, after using a 7 Plus for almost 4 years, I find it a bit to large. I miss the smaller size.

I am really curious if the 6.7" Max size is getting even too big for me. I owned a plus and loved the size. I wonder what the dimensions will be of the 6.7" max?
If I do get 12 and they do nothing to lower the Max body size, I am most likely getting 6.1 Pro.

What annoys is why are they so against choices. Just let people customize how many rows and columns they want.

I wish they would just go back to a 16:9 ratio, that's why I don't consider my 11pro max to truly be 6.5", it's probably more like 6.1" if it was 16:9, although I haven't done the math.

I hope the SIM card try doesn't get moved to a spot where I end up touching it more. Every time I feel it the gap feels too big and I start thinking it isn't inserted correctly.

I hope the 5.4 inch model has great battery life. I really don’t want to have to get a bigger screen size just for that.

big screen has big battery because it consumes more.. so having small screen and small battery should be fine. The only thing is that the 5.4in will have more density of pixels (based on recent rumors) which in this case I’m not sure if it can affect battery life.

iPhones tend to have worse battery life compared to the competition

I tend to think they got the ergonomics right straight out of the gate. They could fit what was once considered a comically large smart phone display of right around five inches if they just smooshed down the OG design a little bit. The rumored 5.4" sounds nice, but seems like it'll be a 6,7,8 style with the chin and forehead now more display, so still too big in my opinion. I loved my (2016) SE and my 4s before it, but do appreciate a slightly wider (portrait wise) display for purposes of the keyboard, so here's my fantasy iPhone mockup. Everything is as close to accurate scale as I could muster.
The iPhone 12 Mini they OUGHT to make!.png

Love the magnets as substitute camera modules.

Bring on the 6.8" super phones.

You know these aren’t real right? The new phones may do just that
While I can appreciate your optimism, after six years of waiting for them to do something interesting with the larger devices, I’m kind of out of it.

but who knows, maybe iOS 14 will actually give us something...

*insert laugh here*

Still wondering how are we going to send 60GB of video to computers if they remove Lighting dock… wait, wireless?? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Bye bye shorts/films/movies recordered with iPhones

Make 'em thinner so I can wade through "bendgate" posts, and trudge through YouTube after YouTube video is people bending them and feigning outrage.

Can I get all the newest features and tech in the smallest physical size? If the answer is no, that’s a problem.
