We have an everio HDD cam and are trying to get the files to work on our mini, how can i read these files and use them in iMovie??
 
You probably need the MPEG2 add-on ($$) for QuickTime. There is also free software out there that can view and convert the files. I found the most useful result by doing a Google search for: mod movie file os x
