Some, LOL. That's a kind understatement.

The modbooks have been around for years now, going through several revisions. They are someone who you can probably trust to come through with a final product, this is more akin to established companies like Cool Mini Or Not going to kickstarter to fund new products then joe blow off the street.

WTF is this ! 2,000 USD for conversion or 4,000 USD for a new one !!! this is hilarious  Apple should ban this ! and who uses a pen-based tablet nowadays anymore ! it's just a rip-off.:mad:

Apple can't ban it. It's their computer that people are tweaking. Your comment suggests that people can't tear apart the computer they buy from Apple or reassemble it. The most Apple can do, and they do this, is void the warranty.

This is what I've been waiting for. 32gb for running multiple VMs and the resolution to have them arranged to all be visible. Price is comparable to similar equipped systems from Lenovo and Dell.

I like the buttons on the back too. My Samsung TV has these types of buttons and they're great. The buttons are on the back and as soon as you place your finger on them, the TV screen puts the buttons up so you know which one you're hovering on. It's one of the best inventions of the past couple years that is severely under-used.

It's fair to say this voids your warranty, though I recall Other World Computing selling these for a few years and I think they included their own warranty. I don't know if it's still the case that you get some sort of warranty included with the conversion.

Why would they try to stop it?

Because it's okay if people are paying to have their own machines modded but the minute this company starts reselling Apple's products but modded...they're not gonna be happy about it.

It's higher density RAM than what Apple offers but you can buy it from 3rd parties. You don't have to do the entire mod book to get 32MB RAM.

They've done this in the past. Apple doesn't care - and why should they?

This is what a tablet shouldn't be. The novelty of having OS X at your fingertips will wear off quickly when you realise how cumbersome using the device in day-to-day situations will be. The software just wasn't designed for a touchscreen.

Though in my opinion, the iPad isn't exactly what a tablet should be either. In places, it feels too much like the iPhone's software, just scaled up. Apple has't quite figured out how to make tablet software yet, though clearly neither have these guys.

There is something about having a physical clicking device or stationary dragging device (trackpad or mouse) that far outweighs the overall computing experience versus using a pen to input. It seems like it would not be as "Power-userish" of an experience converting a Powerhouse MacBook Pro and reducing it to a pen tablet form.

Just saying...it brings up memories of Newton...which really caused me to lose interest in the device quickly and the product flopped. People LIKE using laptops better.

It's not a day to day tablet for you and I. It's for a specific niche of user like my artist sister with her crazy ass Wacom Cintiq monitor.

Looks like the future of the Mac. Docked it makes an ideal desktop and undocked it makes a great laptop/tablet hybrid. 3 devices in one. Perfect. See what you can with a little imagintion, something Apple sadly seems to be lacking these days.

Who wants to use a desktop OS on a tablet? I'm still not convinced these 2-in-1 devices are great tablets outside of narrow use cases. And I don't see how this is superior to a laptop with a great keyboard and trackpad. New and different don't necessarily equal better.

Also what's imaginative about cramming a desktop OS into a tablet form factor? Microsoft already tried that over a decade ago.

Pretty cool, but as the iPad gets more powerful and rumors of a larger Pro model in the works, this seems doomed before it starts.

It does make me think of one thing and that's I'd love to have my MacBook Air with a touch screen! I don't know how many times I've switched from my iPad to the MacBook to do something and instinctively touched the screen and have nothing happen.

How do you just grab an apple product and deface it with uglyass logos on the front?

Oh cool. A really heavy tablet that probably runs hot and costs a lot of money. I'll keep my MacBook Air thanks.
