Hello. If I want to get today an unlocked iPhone X to be used in any part of the world, including USA, the only way to go is to buy one from Verizon since it's the only carrier with A1865 models? When the official SIM FREE iPhone goes on sale at Apple, will it be the same as the A1865 from Verizon or worst/better? Thank you a lot!

Sim-Free Model will be the Verizon/Sprint Model. This was the case for the 7/7 Plus and 8/8 Plus. So will the iPhone X.

But yes, if you want an unlocked model that has both CDMA and GSM then Verizon model is the way to go.

You can buy Verizon or sprint versions, either from Apple store or Verizon stores.

Phones bought from sprint stores will be locked

you want to walk into an Apple Store, and ask for the Verizon model... paid in full. This will be the same thing as getting the sim-free model.

I don't know how this would work if you tried to buy direct from Verizon.

Thank you very much to all of you for your prompts responses! :)
