Pretty cool article from the BBC about NASA modeling two colliding black holes. Here's a quote about the computer they used, named Columbia:
But Columbia's enormous power has finally cracked the problem. The 3D simulations used more than 2,000 of the machine's 10,000 64-bit processors, running over a period of 80 hours.
So, just think if they'd used a bunch of Quads :cool: I'm guessing they'd be done over the lunch break :rolleyes:

:eek: That is alot of processes. It also mentions that "Columbia used new formations of Einsteins calculations. Interesting.
