ModemGate has officially begun!!!
As early iPhone 7 adopters are finding out, not all iPhone 7's are multi-network. One of the major selling points of the IUP was that the phones are unlocked and work on CDMA and GSM networks. While this was accurate at the inception of the IUP, it is no longer accurate.
Apple has dual-sourced the modems for the iPhone 7 and they are no longer unlocked phones. There are four models of the iPhone 7 being manufactured, with Model 1661 being the only multi-network capable phone.
In order for an IUP phone to be multi-network, the phone must have been purchased and activated on a Verizon or Sprint account, which is Model 1661. For those of us who upgraded through the IUP and activated on AT&T or T-Mobile, the phone is not unlocked and will not work on CDMA networks.
