Modifying EFI

Hey people,
I'm curious, I read a thread on here a while ago where someone was asking if it was possible to port the EFI from a 2010 MP to a 2009 to enable compatibility with more CPU's has this ever been sucesfully done with any MP's? For example has anyone ever got 2008's EFI on a 2006 to enable more CPU's...
