Confirmed this worked perfectly. Thanks for the heads up! 5870 x2 plus the DVD bay PSU w/ modular plugs installed today. Works great.

Much! I wouldn't want to do it any other way. Not a big fan of shuffling the component deck so like this far cleaner approach.

Revel - I know this post is old, but did the PSU stay always on or did it power down when the computer was off?

Don't mean to bump an old thread but I too would like to know how the secondary PSU operates when the Pro goes to sleep or is shut down.

This is what the molex connector is for. When you turn on your Mac, it trips a relay which turns on the aux PSU. So when you shut down your Mac, it will turn off that PSU.

Came across this just, researching how to install an fsp group booster 5x, for powering a 2nd graphics card. Anyone have pictures of the cable routing? At least on my ipad, the pictures of where someone cut a notch is missing. I just had to get into my 2009 Mac Pro, and and was surveying where ill be routing cables from the 5.25 bay.
