I updated to Mojave without any problems on my 2015 Macbook, but I'm having an issue on my iMac.

It's an iMac Retina 5K Late 2014 running High Sierra Version 10.13.6, with a 3TB Fusion Drive formatted in HFS+. When I open the installer and select my Macintosh HD, it just stalls and does nothing, whereas my laptop quoted me a time (10 mins) and completed as normal. When I try to cancel, the system freezes and I have to press the power button to restart it.

I had a look at the Installer log and have attached a screenshot of what it said. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Well, AFAIK it tries to convert the boot disk to APFS (the only option in Mojave) and it fails. Are you sure your "Macintosh HD" is the internal Fusion drive formatted to HFS+ (= stock, default) ?

I also have a Late 2014 iMac 5K and all is ok here. The internal Fusion drive is APFS now.

EDIT: or is your boot disk an external LaCie drive ?

Hi there, thanks for your response. When I look in Disk Utility, the screenshots I have attached to this post are what you can see. Is this how it ought to look?

Edit: The LaCie drive is just storage. Never booted off it, and don't want to.

This seemed to happen to me too. I started looking for answers got distracted for about 15 minutes and then returned to check what was going on. iMac seemd to be frozen. Plugged power into Magic Trackpad (ofter wakes it up) and all of a sudden the installer is working, 27 mins to go.
Perhaps it was doing something behind the scenes before starting proper.
Will see what happens. 19 mins to go.

Hi there, thanks a lot for your response. Took your advice and just let it work while I did something else, and it worked just fine. Thank you again for the help!
