I'm trying to download the Mojave installer in order to install it on an external HD. I tried the app store and searching for Mojave didn't help. I tried downloading Mojave 10.14.6 update and other versions from the apple support page but when I open the pkg it advises I need Mojave 10.14. No where can I find 10.14. I also tried DosDude Mojave patch and that didn't work. I also removed any install os's in applications (as suggested in a post)rebooted and that didn't work. I'm running Sierra on my mbp and I also tried to download it on my Imac(late 2009) running Yosemite no luck on either.

Any help would be appreciated.

This link will help you download Mojave, and if you need it, you can also make a bootable USB installer, too!

Thanks, I tried that before and it takes me to the app store and only Catalina is available. I search for Mojave and but no installer.

The "Imac(late 2009)" definitely can not download the Mojave installer app since it is not supported by Mojave. What year is the MBP running Sierra?

What exactly happens when you click on the "Get macOS Mojave" link in Step 4?

What is your default Web browser (there has been a problem using Firefox)?

Just scratch installed 2009 i7 27inch Late 2009 iMac with Mojave without a problem. Go here to make a bootable USB http://dosdude1.com/mojave/

Thanks, I was using Firefox and it didn't work but using Safari worked. I spent a lot of time trying to solve this never thought it could be the browser.

Thank you

I downloaded the file in Safari and it is only 5.57 g so not the whole dmg. When I tried to install it I get an error message when it wants to restart the computer. I went back to the web site but now there is no download option just an obtain option. I tried running it from there but again same error message.
Any other ideas?
I tried downloading 10.14.6 update but when opening pkg it says needs 10.14 installed.
When I tried DosDude patch, apple says it is not a supported app - dead end.
Thanks

The whole installer app should be around 6.1 GB, it sounds like you got a incomplete download. You may have to delete the "Install macOS Mojave" app from the Applications folder and try another download.

Does your MBP support Mojave?

Thanks, but it appears that the external hardrive I was using finally failed. I tried to fix it but to no avail.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help.

The external HD had a partition on it so I managed to download M as per your suggestion and I have now installed it and running it. We intend on purchasing a new iMac (replace late 2009) when Apple decides to update them and basically I am using the ext HD to practice on. Probably the new Mac will come with Catalina and since M can run iPhoto I might install M instead of C. My wife prefers iPhoto.

Thanks for your great help.

I'm having similar problems & it's impossible to find the full installer.
I followed links as given above and they all fail in Firefox as they try to open iTunes.
I then used Safari and it opens the App Store app & goes to the installer (which, incidentally doesn't show up if you search the App Store for it) but... it then starts the download in Software Update, not as an independent download.
Will this download be somewhere that I can access?
Or does anyone have an actual webpage download link, not one that redirects to the App Store app.

p.s... why do they make it so hard...

This is how it's supposed to work. When the download finishes, it will be in your Applications folder.

My Mac mini came with Mavericks which I stayed on for a long time. I upgraded to High Sierra and it went very smoothly. I be wanting to upgrade again since High Sierra is no longer supported.

Last night I upgrade from HS to Mojave. I couldn’t find Mojave’s download by searching the App Store. I googled Apple support Mojave and found the link that way with the 5 steps and then link to Mojave which took me to the Apple store.

It worked very smoothly again and now I have dark mode which is rally great. All my album artwork also transferred over in iTunes. So happy!!

I missed getting the Mac distributed installer download of Mojave. Can anyone private message me and share a downloaded copy that you may have saved before Mac made it unavailable for download. Mojave is the latest compatible and more stable version I can install on my Mac Pro 2013. I would much appreciate it. :)🙏 I've cloned my current High Sierra, and ready to move into Mojave.

The installer is still available from Apple. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210190

Thanks. I found it too after posting, and got involved with the upgrade and forgot to come back to let this thread know I found it. I did find out that Mac Pro 2013 is compatible with Catalina, but I need to stick with Mojave for a bit because Cubase 9.5 isn't compatible with Catalina. I will upgrade to Cubase 10 soon though and then to Catalina. Been meaning to make the move for a while.

Thanks again for your generous time and effort to help out!

Yes, my MacBook5,1 can download the full Mojave installer as well.
