help!!

I was using my MacBook Pro happily this morning when I got a message pop up that the new public beta for mojave was available.

I clicked the update now button and went off to make a cup of tea.

I come back to a no entry sign on my screen and I can’t get any further.

I’ve tried command R as I boot. Same thing

Shift as I boot same thing

Any other ideas?

This is not bricked.

Reboot your mac and hold CMD+R - Start in recovery mode
Connect to WiFI or network cable - so connect to internet
Do a simple reinstall of the Mac OS X - no need to delete or wipe out anything.

It happened for me as well - just do the reinstall and don't forget to delete the Previous System folder to reclaim space.
All your settings and apps will be preserved after the reinstall.

I had the same problem, it booted to the no entry sign too. Had to reinstall it twice in order for it to work again.

I had the same issue (screen was black while upating). I just left that machine for an hour or more. Then force restart using power button, update started again and everything went fine.

Where is the Previous System folder? My restore failed, but now when I try to reinstall Mac OS X it says I need to free up space (which wasn't an issue previously).

It happened to me as well. But since I have 2 boot drives it just booted off the other one. I just went in and reselected my ssd as the start up disk and rebooted and it was fine.

Similar issue. I installed the latest beta on 3 Macs successfully, but my 2016 Pro is stuck. I either get stuck on the apple logo or the account log in screen and it never proceeds. Safe boot, recovery, and internet recovery don’t work and the battery doesn’t charge even after an SMC reset.

Tonight I loaded Beta 5 but before I did that I removed the hard drive with Mojave on it so only the SSD is installed so the update won't get confused looking for a the Mojave drive. It just finished updating. When I have a little more time I will test it out to make sure its all working correctly (no prohibited sign upon boot up).

Just for info, there are 6 drives in my Mac, and I can update to PB5 without issue. The target drive is a HDD in APFS.
