Saw that story on the Today Show this morning. My wife literally cried out in surprise when she saw that woman.

The interviewing reporter should have asked one more question,
"Do you think you look good?"

If the answer was yes, then I guess all that tanning has turned her eyeballs into raisins. Gross.
 
Fair enough, but can you speak to her possible motivation??

As I'm sure you know, trying to guess at a particular individual's motivation without a full evaluation of the individual is pretty much a useless endeavor.

But...my first association was to think of anorexia. One theory is that the issue is control. The anorexic (and perhaps this woman) supposedly feel they are not in control of their lives, and the only thing they can control is what they eat, or not eat.

One might extrapolate to this woman that it has to do with feeling not in control of many aspects of her life, but can control the obviously pathological level of tanning.

All that is pretty wild and generic speculation...without the opportunity to evaluate the woman.
