So I have a strange request for anyone on here that might fit into this category. I have had an iPhone X since its release and for my work I have to take a lot of pictures in tight spaces. I recently got the Moment lens that is an ultra wide. While it is kind of annoying to have to put a different case on my phone and attach a big extra lens to take ultra wide photos, it does make a huge difference and takes pretty decent photos that can capture those smaller areas.

Then Apple announced the new iPhones and since they all have the ultra wide lens built right into them I am really tempted to upgrade from my X to an 11 Pro. However, apart from the camera, I don't really feel like the money needed to upgrade is worth it. Plus from what we have heard of the 2020 iPhones, we are more than likely getting quite a big update with a redesign. I would rather wait for that.

So my question is, has anyone here used the ultra wide lens by Moment, have gotten a new iPhone, and compared the ultra wide lens built into the new iPhone with the Moment lens? I would curious to see if there is much of a quality difference.

I won't buy the XR/11 because there's no telephoto lens and I refuse to use on of those add-on lenses. Having to use a special case and/or some clip-on type design, Nope, not for me.

I have the moment lens. Just waiting on the phone to arrive (tomorrow) and the moment case (late october).
My goal isn't so much to compare the two but rather use the ultra wide moment lens on the ultra wide iphone lens to see how it goes.
I also sometimes use the moment lens on the telephoto lens on the iphone.

I would be very interested to see the comparison between your old phone with the moment lens and the new iPhone 11 Pros ultra wide lens.

Been using the Moment lens with my XS Max for a year now, taken some amazing photos with it. I pre-ordered the new case for my 11 Pro Max, can't wait to see the ultra-ultra-wide results lol

I have the Moment Wide, Telephoto (both versions) and Superfish for my X and just got the new 11 Pro Max.

I’ve used the Wide on my X so many times and gotten some incredible shots with it.

The Ultra Wide on the 11 Pro Max is a 13mm equivalent and the Moment is an 18mm. The big difference is that the 18mm is going on your current regular X lens that has an f/1.8 and the 11 has an f/2.4. Basically the images from the Moment lens will be a little crisper (although you would have to go pixel by pixel to truly see the difference as it becomes kind of subjective). Additionally, the Moment lens because it’s glass on glass allows for Sun flare to come up in pictures which the 11 won’t since it’s just a single lens - or if it does, the likelihood is greatly reduced. I am waiting for my Filmmaker case to arrive in order to try the wide lens on the new regular wide and then be able to compare it to the ultra wide - although, if I’m being honest I can already tell that the Moment will provide a better picture in terms of clarity and crispness, but be offset with the hassle of needing to attach a lens every time.

I always left the X Photo Case in Walnut on my phone as it’s default case. I loved the look of it and it prevented me from having to swap cases out. I’m expecting to leave the filmmakers case on my 11 Pro Max as well since it’s so thin.

The Moment Wide doesn’t work on the Ultra Wide unfortunately. Their new cases support the regular wide and telephoto like always and leave the Ultra Wide alone.

Have you tested the ultra wide moment lens on your 11 Pro regular lens yet?

I have been playing around with a 11 Pro vs my X with the moment lens and it is pretty close in terms of quality. The 11 Pro handles light better but both have pretty grainy ultra wide shots. I would be curious to see how the moment lens does when attached to the main camera of the 11 Pro.

The 11 pros ultra wide lens creates a super wide rectilinear image (through image processing). That means that straight lines on the edges of the frame (buildings, corners, whatever) will be straight in the picture. I don't think the Moment lens does this. It curves straight lines like most wide angle lenses.

No. Still waiting on the moment case so I can mount the lens. It's still weeks away.
