What moinitor would you guys recommend for the 2012 Mini that I just got?
    I would prefer 24 inch/1920x1200.
I would like if it works out of the box/without running any scripts (I've read that the mini DP doesn't play nice with most of the monitors).

    Thanks

I have a HP ZR24w connected to my rMBP with a mini DP to DP cable. That monitor is 24" / 1920x1200. It works fine except for sometimes not waking from sleep (unplugging and reconnecting the cable solves that).

If you want a 1920 x 1200 display I would go with a dell u2412 or the newer u2415. They both have multiply connectivity options and should work out of the box. I have not owned these models but I have had the 2405, 2407,2408,and the 2410. I loved each of them and they worked great with my mini

1920x1200 would be nice, as I'm used to that on my 24" iMac.
I'm afraid that I'll loose a lot by going to 1920x1050.

Anyone has any regrets by going from 1920x1200 to 1920x1050?

For office productivity those 120 extra lines are worth it. If I had the budget I would go with 2560x 1440 or buy the LG 34UM95-P which is 3440x 1440.

The LG will be a pain in the butt so don't get that one if you want ease of use. If you can pick up a used 24" Apple ACD that might also be a nice choice.

    Thanks.
I think I'll go with Dell U2412M. I do work from home (quite a bit), so the 1920x1200 would be useful. 2560x1440 is out of my price range.

1920x1080. l made the move from a 24" iMac to a Dell U2311H 1920x1080 a few years ago, and really didn't notice the difference after a few hours' use.

At that time the 1200s were generally 'pro spec' and were at least twice the price of 1080s, which was a major factor in my purchase decision. l'm not sure that the two sizes are so distinct in purpose/price now.

Definitely go 1920x1200 over 1080...the extra vertical real estate really pays off. The U2412M is a great monitor. Older but a great screen and reliable. No USB 3 though.

If you don't mind another ~$100 or so, the brand new version of that screen, the U2415 I think just came out and is really nice. 1920x1200 (16:10), super thin bezels, and built-in USB3 hub.

I love my Dell U2711. 2560x1440 of pure visual goodness. My mini doesn't have a problem at all at this res (as long as we're talking 2D =)

I'm running that exact size/resolution. It's also Dell Ultrasharp U2412 like you were considering. I Honestly think it's about the perfect size - anything larger and you would have to pan your head left and right to see the edges.

Thanks. I like the 24 iMac size and will stick to it. My only outstanding dilemma is whether to get u2415 or u2412. I like the pricing on u2412.

Also, do I need to buy any cables for this monitor to work? My mini should arrive next week.

I just got a HP Z24i. Pretty happy with it. Normally I go Dell but the stand and buttons on this are a little better.

Dell Has deals all the time, wait for their 12 days of deals event and jump on it. You have to be quick as the deals change everyday. Sign up for notifications at dell and they will send you emails when the sales start. Do it for the home side and the business side as they are different.

I have the ASUS PA248 display. Great quality screen with USB hub and all the adjustments you need (tilt, swivel, height). It's heavy, though.
