Hi,

I have mac mini M2 which is connected to HP Monitor, from last few weeks I have noticed that sometimes when I switch on my mac mini it shows the snow screen, then if I turn my mac off from the power button and turn it on again then it works fine. Some times when I m not working on mac while its still powered on and monitor goes to sleep, after awaking it, it shows again the snow screen.

Could some one guide me, what could be the possible root cause and how to fix?

thanks
C.

Common issue with HDMI on the Mac mini, my M1 did it and my M4 Pro does it occasionally when waking from sleep. Never have a problem with USB-C or Thunderbolt displays.

Just put it back to sKeep (with Touch ID button if you have one, or Apple menu > Sleep if you have a 2nd display, or with the keyboard shortcut that I don’t remember so you can look it up if you need it) and then re-wake. Slight pain but not so bad that I’ve tried to find a better cable.

I have an HDMI-connected second monitor that sometimes does this with my M1 Mac Studio.

All I do is power cycle the monitor and it starts working.
