Monitor changing to x-ray...

My mini mac start ups and the proper colour and background appears for about 3 or four seconds then in turns dark and looks like a x-ray image.
Any suggetions on how to correct this problem.I have checked all my preferences but can't seem to find the problem.

Try pressing Control-Option-Command-8 and see if this switches you back.

It's a mode to help the visually-impaired, sometimes folk switch it on by accident. Might be what's happened here.
