I'm trying to install Snow Leopard on my month-old Mac mini—regular upgrade, no clean install—and with about 20 minutes left to go, the monitor stopped being recognized by the mini. I have no idea what's going on with the installation. Is this normal? I've let it run for the past 10 minutes or so. Every time I hit the power button on the HP monitor, it scans for a connection and then goes to sleep after not finding anything.

It makes me nervous that I can't see what's going on.

ETA: Most of the time the mini is quiet but every couple minutes, the superdrive starts spinning.

Well, false alarm evidently. I let the installer keep running and with about 9 minutes left, the monitor came back on and the installer finished. Running 10.6 with no obvious problems.
