Hi - I have a mid 2011 27" iMac that I purchased at Best Buy in May of 2011. This is my first iMac. I just noticed that i have a pixel, directly in the middle of my screen that is either dead/froze (sorry I don't know the correct terminology). It is clear looking, almost like a little bright piece of glass. Again, it is right in the center of the screen and is driving me nuts.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I am assuming since my machine is 5 months old I'd be out of luck expecting Apple or Best Buy to repair/replace it? Thanks in advance for the advice, I'm new to iMac and new to this forum.

A dead pixel (that's the word for it) is a hardware problem. Unfortunately, this means that you can't fix it yourself. Call Apple or set up an appointment in an Apple store to see what your options are. You get one year of hardware support for free with purchase, so hopefully this should be covered under that.

Is this a manufacturing defect, or something that recently appeared?
