i have a powerbook and i connect it to my 21" Viewsonic CRT monitor when i am at home. my monitor has been having problems - right when it turns on, you can see the wallpaper zooming in while slowly fading to a black screen. the weird thing is, when i mess around with the cable connected to the monitor, it works sometimes.
has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it?

If you can "solve" this problem by messing around with the cable you have a bad connection. This could be a problem with the port on your PowerBook, the cable or the port on the monitor. Try a different (known good) cable to start with.
