Monitor with a Macbook Pro?

I have a Macbook Pro 13' inch from the latest revision. I was wondering if I buy the adapter for HDMI and hook it up to my monitor, will I be able to close the Macbook and use a USB keyboard and mouse?

Thanks, I figured it could. Also do you know anything about HDMI ports on monitors. For longevity and such, would I be able to use the port for the PS3. I remember reading about HDCP or something, and to make sure the monitor supported it.

That I don't know about, as I'm a DVI user.

I use my MBP with a Dell 30" monitor using the DisplayPort connection, and with a PS3 (and XBox360) hooked up using HDMI. It works great.
