iPod touch monitoring battery on ipod touch

are there free apps for monitoring battery and systems on ipod touch (3rd generation)?

for my mac i use istat but i don't want to pay .99 (cheap bastard i am).

Jailbreak to 4.2 or 4.3 and check off the battery percentage option.

You will have a battery % icon after process is done.

thank you for the advice. at the moment i rather not jailbreak though (haven't yet researched the pros and the cons of doing so, and don't know what it entails either).

The app I have is called Battery Free +. and it works very well. It's in Utilities in the app store.
