Answered my own question.

Web site FAQ:

Wood Finish
Our wood is finished with OSMO Polyxoil, a penetrating oil and wax finish primarily used for hardwood floors. This durability makes it a great finish for your iPhone which sees a lot of use everyday. Although just as durable as polyurethane, this finish protects the wood from within, while maintaining the wood's natural beauty. Unlike polyurethane, it will improve due to the natural oils from your skin and is spot repairable if it is deeply scratched or worn.

I have the Ash. The coating is nice. Almost feels like plastic, but softer.

Waiting for Wenge!

Waiting for Wenge!

I'm waiting for my Wenge too, I'm hoping I'll get it soon.

Arrived on Friday. Love it. Will post up pics as soon as I can. Trying to buy a house which my wife thinks is more important than posing up pictures of a wooden iPhone back.

All settled with the new house? Still waiting on those pics:).

Maple one would look sick on a white iphone.
Waiting for some user reviews and pics.

I ordered mine a week ago tomorrow, but I ordered the Wenge. I will post a quick review as soon as I get mine. I'm not sure if I will get a shipping confirmation or not, but I'm hoping it shipped already:). Although the website says 1-2 weeks:(.

I hadn't realised the company was based in Texas. Funny as I'm also waiting on a Saddleback leather sleeve for my iPhone, another company based in Texas.

Maybe I should get me a confederacy flag.

Yikes!

Seriously though, business is easier to do here, you pay less taxes as a business compared to the east and west coasts.

Cool, thanks.
Will be looking forward the review and pics.

My review is it arrived in ok time, see the beginning of the thread for a slight issue with that. All in all a nice company to deal with. The wood back feels like real quality from start to finish, the feel in the hand is great. It has a coating on that means it will only improve with time. Fitting took about 3.5 seconds and my two year old could have done it. The packaging is great and provides good storage for your original back. One note is that I ordered for the 4S which is important as though the packaging has space for two screwdriver heads they only provide the one relevant to your order.

I love the back. I was sick to death of cases. Using this with a Saddleback leather pouch suits me perfectly. I have an SGP Ultra Fine on the front and have just got some Lucky Lab silver spectra wraps and that does me fine.

Of the 3 or 4 companies selling wooden backs Monolith are the cheapest. Also if you live outside the US they are the only ones who don't charge a ridiculous amount to ship overseas.

Apologies for quality of photos. I'm more than willing to answer any specific questions or take specific photos.

No issues at all with flash.

Looks good, thanks for the review and the pics. Now I really want mine, todays been a week since I ordered, so I probably have a little wait yet.

Nice review and thanks for the detailed pics. Is that the Teak back? I ordered mine on the 21st, so hopefully it will arrive soon. Can't wait b/c like you, I'm so tired of cases.

Thanks for the review. That thing does look gorgeous.
Although I wonder if any of the plates have a white bezel, may be a maple one?

You have the option to choose white or black edges with all of the finishes.

My Wenge should be here soon. Will post pics.

FYI, since it does not contain glass, it lightens up the phone a little.

Would the color of the wood fade over time? I have the Trunket and it's not as dark as when I first got it and it's only been a few months.

Did you get yours?

And did you get yours yet?

I ordered mine on the 27th, so if neither of you guys received yours yet I know I've still got quite a while to wait. It seems like the 1-2 weeks as stated in the email is quite optimistic

Yesterday was 2 weeks since I ordered it. Late last night I got a shipping confirmation. But even today, the tracking number doesn't show up in usps's system, so I think they just created a label, didn't actually put it in the mail.

Looks like real wood, and it says it's handcrafted. If they are selling a printed wood at $55, it would be too expensive. :p

Still hasn't shipped. I emailed them another question, and asked when it would ship, they told me Wednesday. I think they only said that because it was exactly 2 weeks since I ordered it. Right now USPS only received shipping info, I think they just create the label with the 2 weeks so it looks like it shipped in time.

Today is two weeks exactly for me, no shipping notification yet. I was kind of expecting it to be longer than two weeks but was secretly hoping it'd be quicker. Thankfully since I'm only up I-35 in Dallas I should get it next day or so once it does ship

I ordered mine 2 1/2 weeks ago, it's at USPS pretty close. I'm hoping I'll get it tomorrow, but it might be Tuesday. If its Wednesdy, then that means it was 3 full weeks to receive it.

I'm looking forward to getting it on, I love my Trunket, but I'm sick of it sliding around. Especially when it's warm out. Although, Trunket did send me a replacement, I just never used it because I saw the Monolith, so maybe th replacement would of been better?

Yeah I got mine last Tuesday. Believe me....the wait is well worth it. It oozes quality all around, from the packaging to the actual product. Love it!

I got mine today, after about 2 1/2 weeks, so not much off the high end of there shipping estimates. While it is a nice back, I actually like the Trunket a little better. I think because the Trunket sticks to your glass back, it actually makes it feel nicer. Not that I sit around tapping the back of phone, but if you do, the Monolith back feels and sounds cheaper. I also don't like that the flash diffuser is missing, while it may not effect performance, it would look better not just being what appears to be an empty hole.

I also like the Elephant on my Trunket, and I'm not sure what wood the Trunket is made from, but it looks nicer than the Wenge that the Monolith is made from. I think you can see in the pic that the Monolith wood has all the little holes in it, the Trunket looks much nicer without that. I also waited a long time before I could even order the Wenge from Monolith, and I waited because I asked them about a dark, black wood. The Wenge is definitely brown, and not what I was looking for.

Trunkets customer service is also much faster, both companies seem good with there service, but I had to wait a lot longer for replies from Monolith.

I am going to have to get my digital camera to get more pictures, but I took one with my phone before putting it on.

For the difference in price, even though the Trunket is only a stick on thing, I would certainly recommend it over the Monolith.
