I see there is the $129 for 24 months, or $5.99/mo *no duration*.

Is there actually a duration for the $5.99/mo version? Or does it last 24 months like the other option?

The $5.99 is month-to-month, no expiration. If you wanted to keep it for 5 years, you can.

You can also go with $129 for the first 24 months and then convert to monthly AC+ afterwards. I don't know if the rate will still be $5.99/mo if you go this route.

I recently just added the month to month after the 2 year term. Once the original Applecare expires you can add the monthly subscription. It is the $5.99

You can only add the monthly AppleCare subscription during the first 30 days (or is it 60 days) following the end of your 24 month subscription. And the cost depends on what device you are insuring. $5.99 a month for iPad Pro, $9.99 for MacBook Pro. And you have to keep track of the expiration date of your existing 24-month contract because they won't remind you to add a monthly subscription when your original finishes.
