I'd be careful with these. Many versions of these get VERY hot. I bought something like this when Apple Mcs went usb-c only, as a workaround for having something like a MagSafe on my the MacBook, but I stopped using it because the heat it built up was a worry when it's almost flush with your device.
I've never had a problem with the ones I have for my iPad Air. Of course I am feeding 20W through the iPad brick and not trying to charge it on a 65W-100W brick that a laptop would use. That might have been the heat issue. You put too much power through it. AirPods don't need and can't draw that kind of power.

True. I'm just very wary of those usb magnetic connectors, probably because I was over enthusiastic about them being a quick-fix for MagSafe being removed.

You are making fun of people paying good money for highly engineered quality tech products but not wanting to get bent over by the out of control accessories market, charging $150 for a charging stand for $500 headphones.
Yeah, Apple doesn't overcharge for anything they sell. Memory and storage upgrades for your computer, keyboards for their iPads, watch bands, Vision Pro accessories, charging accessories--just to name a few, all super fairly priced compared to the market. 🙄

Why the eye roll? Consumers consume in mass consistently with Apple. They set the prices, not Apple. That is why Apple can throw any prices they want.

Let me confirm. Yes. That is correct. Many of Apple’s accessories for their products as well as computer options are highly priced. That is an accurate statement and not in dispute.

Mophie? I haven’t heard that name since the iPhone 4 battery case days!
But why no lightning love? Looks like they could easily make a lightning adapter as well as the USB-C one. Or maybe they can’t lol

Get one of these magnetic chargers from Amazon. Put one end in the AirPods Max like they did and the other you would need to drill out a hole from the bottom on the charging side and glue the receiver into the bottom. Would not be too hard to make this yourself. They did not do anything remotely difficult.

I have seen these magnetic chargers. I'd looked into it at one point but got scared away by an anecdote where the charging connector got stuck in the AirPods Max.

I presume there are magnets that were put into the 3D frame after the frame was printed. Can you see the magnets and are they removable?

(I guess you can see where this is going - I could print the frame myself and source and add the magnets after it is printed).

Adding charging wouldn't be a problem, I imagine. It'd just be a matter of having a suitable slot / hole for a usb connector and a groove for cable management.

The magnets were embedded into the stand during printing - I can only see them inside if I hold the stand up to bright light. I'm happy with this stand as is - it was pretty cheap. I'm just being a cranky old lady about the price of this Mophie stand.

The Mophie stand is something to watch out for when it's being sold a discounted price, I think. It does look nice.

But I also like making stuff, it's not just being too tight with money to buy a "proper" stand, and I prefer things that I've been involved a tiny bit in making or modifying.

I blame it on too much Lego when I was a kid :p
