I agree, I own both a Mophie Duo and 2 different Jackery models. The Jackery charges much faster which is why I use it more, my Mophie will take close to a whole day to fully charge. I was very skeptical of the Jackery because its price was so low. I figured it would be exploding within a week, but I have had no problems at all (about 10 months now).
The new Mophie design with integrated cables seems like a really bad idea. They have a much more complex inventory and distribution problem on their end and the consumer will probably want the one not in stock.

In Japan both Sony and Panasonic sell better designed (no sharp edges) external batteries at better prices. Too bad they have very limited distribution outside Japan.
I've been pretty happy with the Anker external batteries, IIRC, last year I spent $50 for a 15000 mAh version that charged my iPhone 5S over 7 times from an almost drained battery. Probably cheaper now.
Not getting the appeal at $149 for the Mophie 12000mAh model given how many cheaper options there are for quality alternatives, but obliviously, YMMV.
why doesn't the lightening connector have the 8x options?
Seems like an odd oversight given the popularity of apple devices and customers generally spend more. Hopefully it is coming later, but doesn't appear to be so.
Exactly. The Xiaomi works great and for the peace of mind the batteries inside are manufactured by LG and the charging controller chip is made by Texas Instruments. So it's not a low quality Chinese exploding knockoff but a genuine product. I bought mind for HKD89 (USD11.4) in Hong Kong.
Anyone know if the built in cable is long enough to charge an iPad that improved up on a stand? Cable looks very short.
I have an older generation, but don't really want to upgrade until there is lightening charging of the battery I don't want more cables—I'd pay more for that battery than the sub version.
