Say I have the iphone inside the mophie juice pack case, I know I can charge the battery inside the case with that micro-USB charger but what if I want to charge both the iphone and the case at the same time? Do i need to take the iphone out of the case completely and use the lightning charger obviously and for the case I'd charge it with the micro USB.

I have the uNu power DX for the iPhone 5. They charge simultaneously. I would think they charge at the same time. If you leave it plugged in overnight both the case and iPhone will be fully charged when you make up. That's what I did with my battery case.
