Alongside the start of pre-orders for the Apple Watch last month, Mophie announced the Watch Dock, a $60 aluminum stand for the Apple Watch with leather accents and hideaway cable storage. It took a bit longer than the original estimate of April 24 for the Watch Dock to launch, but it's now shipping out to the first batch of pre-order customers and Mophie has provided us with one for testing purposes.

The Watch Dock is very straightforward, with the box containing only the stand and a quick start guide illustrating how to route your existing Apple Watch charging cable through the stand. A circular cutout at the top of the stand holds the inductive charger, with the cable being fed through a rubber-enclosed channel along the inside of the stand's arm, disappearing into the base and out the back.

The cable management system offers a clean look for the stand and the design makes it easy to mount an Apple Watch with either a looped or a traditional band for charging. The angled design of the stand makes it ideal for placement on a nightstand or desk where an occasional glance might be necessary.

That looks like faux leather. The overall look is just fake and kind of gross. I'll pass.

I guess I'm spoiled by Apple's all-aluminum designs at this point.

I'd assume my cat would knock it over constantly because it wants to play with the dangling bottom neoprene strap

The black leather looked 'ok' until I saw the charger placed into it.

So the overall review is pretty much "meh".

Not a great endorsement for spending $60 on it.

Having a soft surface may not be bad at all for a watch to prevent accidental scratching since it will be docked 365 times per year :)

I actually like the clean and practical design plus the reasonable price.

    Regards,
    Sam

I agree. I pre-ordered it as soon as I heard about it last month. Once I saw saw better pictures of it I canceled it and ordered one of the $19.99 Spigen all aluminum ones from Amazon. Not as fancy but it also only cost $20 bucks.

I might be alone on this but I actually like heavy docks. I hate having to hold down the base with one hand and lift with the other. I think most companies miss this point (or perhaps it make them too expensive with shipping) but that's what I want. A semi-heavy dock for iPhone/iPad/Watch.

Ordered 2 when they started pre order. Received email that they were going to be delayed. Ordered two from twelve south with their pre order, in aluminum. Twelve South's came 2 days before the Mophies, and we love the Twelve South Version. Mophie doesn't have a rest for the band, and leaves it just dangling. Mophie has beautiful craftsmanship and is well built, but really, not worth the money. From the early pics of the Mophie, I thought it would be a little taller, but it only rests 1/2" taller than the twelve south. Not worth the price difference and the dangling band.

The Spigen looks pretty solid, no +pleather+, aluminum - I guess the cable isn't as hidden, but for $20, it seems like a bargain.

I didn't notice someone had already mentioned the Spigen. How do you like it?

The one thing morgue has done that the there haven't is out a back portion to the are that holds the charging disc.

I love that. I wish my Twelve South one had that. I'm not sure why others haven't done that.

I love it. It looks great, reminds me of the iMac base. But it doesn't just look great, it works great too. The charger fits snuggly like a glove into the hole, and it goes in from below so the magnet sits completely flush with the top of the stand. It's flawless, and a steal for $20. Good job spigen!!

Nice thanks. Yeah, I thought the design really nailed the Apple look (not to mention the use of aluminum, er, ah-loo-mineeum ... :D )

$19.95, free ship from Amazon sounds great. I think I also have a 25% for Spigen direct, but its just generally so much easier to order from Amazon.

I agree that they really nailed the apple look. Only difference is if Apple made it they would charge $79 for it.

Here's a few pics of my stand, including one to show you how flush the charger magnet is with the rubbery black surface around it. I'm really beyond impressed with this thing. It far superior to the one shown in the OP in my opinion.

Wow! That looks excellent. Is that a 42mm silver sport with an aftermarket link bracelet? (looks great)

That's exactly what it is! And thank you. I asked the lady in jewelry store who sized it for me if she thinks it matches, she said that in her professional opinion they look good together and could have came that way.

Thanks for the tip and pictures of that Spigen charging stand. I just ordered one too! It's just $18.74 with free shipping direct from Spigen when using the 25% off code for registering on their website.
