Mophie's $70 Wireless Charge Stream Desk Stand Now Available for Purchase

Hardly looks better than if some guy on a forum posted his shots of a 3D printed stand he made for their charger. At the very least they should have run the cord through the bottom. What were their industrial designers thinking??
So much this - flip the charging puck so the cord is at the bottom, run it through some sort of clip to hold the cable in place, and it would have looked... utilitarian, something you might have bought inexpensively at Target. But this? With the cord coming off the top for no useful reason? It looks like a joke design someone put in the design competition to make sure that none of the actual contestants come out in last place. What, did Mophie have a bunch of pucks already manufactured with their name in that orientation, and they didn't want it to be upside down? It's bad design.

Personally, I don’t trust most overseas companies with anything charger or battery related items. I’d like to avoid my house getting burned down.

This is probably one of the most naive comments made on MR in a while. You are aware that Mophie makes all their products in China and most are simply the same tech with a different exterior and brand stamped on them.

The premise that Chinese products are cheap and nasty is a thing of the past and very much not the case today.

I really don't get this stand, a lightning charting port would be doing the job better, charges faster and is not much different.

And if I have an issue with my Mophie, or if I went with Belkin or the like, it’s easy to get support. If I buy a no-name brand on Amazon, it’s a lot harder to get support.

That’s what I choose to do. If going cheap with random brand works for you, awesome! Seriously. I’m just not comfortable with that.

Just saying though...at that cost you can buy 5 wireless chargers.....but I respect the fact you're comfortable with spending that level of cash. :)
