Very interesting article summarizing everyone's sentiments towards Apple desktops.

I am glad a site finally had the **** to publicly call it out.

Not sure what will come of it. But as you look through the forums there is clearly an issue. Some communication would stem the hemoraging of the Pro market exodus to other platforms. Question is does Apple have the courage?

Oh, I thought the thread title was alluding to the fact that after three years and no updates or any word from Apple the Mac Pro will probably soon be EOL.

That would be a sea change in the Apple MO and I can't see it happening. Aple are absolutely fantastic at a number of things but two things they really excel in and put a lot of effort into; Secrecy and Building hype.

Right now they are doing the exact opposite of building hype, they are leaving the Pro market wading in doubt and the unknown. Check out the threads on this forum and others. Pros are greatly concerned over the stagnant 3 year old tech and introductory pricing. Many are moving to HP Z840's and other Z series. Without a spec bump or any indication that the Mac Pro isn't dead. The article authors opinion was they (Tim and co) have done a few things very non-jobsian, giving Pro users some indication/communication/roadmap could hold off the exodus. Or indeed the real future of the Mac lies in the iMac and MacBook Pro. While the Mac Pro and Mini are finished, as many are beginning to worry. Silence can't change public opinion. Secrecy won't stem the professional/prosumer movement to other markets/platforms/systems. Some of Apples most loyal consumers/fans that use these systems for their livelihood are seeing the writing on the wall (to the best cues that Apple leaves, such as marketing materials lacking both the Pro and mini, as well as neglecting mentioning them). And ultimately Apple is not meeting their needs with stagnated hardware when the competition is offering faster CPU and GPU's. This is greatly concerning. But hey new seasonal watchbands!

Anythings possible. After all they had the courage to remove the headphone jack from the iPhone 7 :D

Secrecy wouldn't be much of a concern if the product line were being updated on a regular basis.
