For the first time in years I'm more excited about the new watch release than what new phones are coming out. The X is so good now I can see myself waiting if need be (but probably not).

Any one else?

Basically. I’m ready for series 4. My X is fine, unless the newer XS blows me out of the water this will finally be the first year I skip yearly upgrades. More ram, faster speed... none of these matters anymore for the iPhone IMO. Unless the front facing camera is 4K what’s the reason to upgrade with everything we know so far.

Edit; Unless they release an all white phone, I’m talking white bezel and all. None of the stainless stuff...think ceramic white watch, then that’s an instant buy.

Count me in this boat too.

I’ve upgraded my phone on the year since iPhone 5 (although I think I opted out of the s model) Currently have the X & if I’m honest for the 1st year ever I’ve laid no attention to any of the new phones being announced tomorrow. My X is just fine. Has everything I want & have no excitement to upgrade to the Plus model. I will skip this one out & rejoin the iPhone excitement next year.

The new watch on the other hand. Count me in ! Currently have S2 aluminium Sport (SG) & I’ll definitely be upgrading this year. Looking forward to everything it has to offer & will compliment my X very nicely.

Cheers

I am keeping my iPhone X as it was a major upgrade from my 6+ a year ago. No need for me to get a minimal upgrade.

I never had a smart watch. I was close to buying the apple watch a few times but decided against it. If the redesign is nice enough I may jump on it. I am not sure I can justify the price of an extension of your phone though but well see.

With the advent of more health sensors the watch is more interesting to me. How much more can you do with a phone that already hasn’t been done? Animojis...I’m alright for those thanks.

X is brilliant and will definitely stay. S3 is just fine, but if S4 has not only a bigger display but is also markedly thinner (which I doubt), it‘s a day one preorder for me.

Yea, unless FID has a HUGE improvement can't see any reason for the XS (or whatever). The gold Steel might look cool but it will still be all black on the front. If FID is like TID then it would be next year before a significant improvement. So I'm happy to stay put.

I just hope the Series 4 is not a price jump like the X was and stays the say. Have a fear they may keep the S3 and position the S4 as a premium (like the X last year). LOVE to be wrong.

Also may need to decide quick since we will likely see a <>25% price increase when/if the tariffs are imposed.

Yeah keeping my X barring a stunning surprise in the new phones. Definitely getting an AW S4, 42mm SS.

I have a S0, going from this to a S4
is a much bigger jump than the X to the X max

I’ll consider going to a series 4 from a series 3 if the upgrades are substantial. The watch is a new enough product that each upgrade continues to be pretty important. The iPhone is so fast, stable, and mature that you get very little going from one generation to the next.

When the watch was first announced, I was definitely going to go with a Stainless steel with SS bracelet, then, when I found out the cost, it was a no go. I’ve been very happy with the aluminum models and have had a series 0, 2, and now 3 LTE, I’ll probably sell the Series 3 and get the 4 unless it’s crazy expensive. I too am happy with my X and don’t really see a need to upgrade even though I’m on the upgrade program. I looks like since it was released later that I’ll also have to pay in, even thought I didn’t get any credit for the month I had to pay extra on my 7 plus. (Maybe they’ll forgive that extra month, who knows.). I’m going to see if there are any must have features before I go with any new phone this year or will wait a little while longer instead of get a day one release.

I already mentioned it a few times, but the watch will win the keynote this year. The iPhone is expanding with three models, which is great, but the Apple Watch is that one device that is much needed in terms of refining it somewhat better with the design, which has been long overdue, and additional health sensors. You can expect the pre-ordering to slip dates very quickly for the Series 4 Apple Watch this year.

Same. Upgraded annually since 2011 but I’ll be sticking with my X until 2019. This year is all about Apple Watch for me (may pick up AirPower and the new AirPod case further down the road)

I won't be upgrading my X until at least next year, but I am interested in seeing what the 4 offers over my current 2.

Fully agree. Unless there's a Wow with the new X I'll be keeping last year's. Definitely going for the Series 4 watch, it looks stunning and will be a nice upgrade for my Series 2.

My iPhone 7+ is running like a champ. My Series 2 Nike AW works well, but I am really intrigued to see the Series 4. Can't hurt to have two Apple Watches! :)

See no reason to upgrade my 8+

I have a SS S2 & SSSB S3, but really tempted by the S4. May wait for Christmas to see how generous my wife is ;)

I may get a new watch and I have no interest in a new iPhone this year. My 7+ will do just fine since I've only owned it since November and it's 256GB. Don't need a new phone to buy the latest watch. Yet.

New phones look great as always, but nothing worth upgrading from my X. Very underwhelming phone presentation so far - AR is boring, until it isn't eventually. Have to laugh at how Cook had to really go to town to sound really enthusiastic about them, ha. Not a knock at Apple, all phones are deep into diminishing returns territory. They're a much bigger deal if you're after a larger screen though, I can see that.

S4 SS Watch ordered at 0802 on Friday though (hopefully!), nice upgrade from my S2, oh yes.

When the time came I caved and ordered an Xs Max along with my 44mm SS.
I am weak.

Like everyone posting here , No reason to upgrade to the XS model the X pretty much does everything required of it then some.Only nice feature on the new models is the depth of field manipulation which the new chip can do.I wonder if its just the processor or if the X can also do the same and its just a software thing.

As for the watch owning a S2 Sport model i have to get the Hermes this time around.

I’ve been more excited about the Watch than the new iPhone for awhile. Whether that’s a testament to how satisfied I’ve been with the X or that I’m coming from Series 2, who knows? Ordered an XS Max guaranteed for next Friday, but I don’t know when Watch is shipping. I’d gladly wait a few weeks for the iPhone if it meant getting the new Watch next Friday. At the very least, it definitely says a lot about how much the Watch has grown and how big of a factor it’s come to play in my day to day life.

I also for the first time since the iPhone was released am not upgrading and am keeping my X, I love the phone and the size. The watch interests me more as I am still on S2.

Same here. In fact, for the first time since 2007, my wife and I did not upgrade our iPhones. But we did order new Series 4 SS watches to replace our Series 2. The upgrade will be significant. I’m expecting way better responsiveness, for one thing.
