Once again limb re-attachment reaches hieghtened state of glory! Let the puns begin! :p

Of course it really is a good thing for a couple of innocent kids caught up in the crazy world of Aids in Africa. A small victory in a sea of awfullness.

Then again there are the silly'r stories like this!

Alcohol and drugs seem to be a common thread. Still in the end it's not the medication of choice, but a human act that did these acts of mutilation. It sure makes one wonder why so many are occurring recently. :eek:

A woman remains in Anchorage jail with no bail set after mutilating the genitals of her boyfriend late Saturday night.

Kim Tran, 35, was arraigned Monday on three felony charges: sexual assault, assault and tampering with evidence.

A public defense attorney will be appointed to represent Tran during a pre-indictment hearing before a Superior Court judge today, according to Magistrate Brian Johnson.

Tran was arrested at her home early Sunday after police found her cleaning up a trail of blood that stretched across her house.

She and her boyfriend, who is married to her aunt, had been quarreling because Tran wanted the man to leave his wife, marry her and have children with her, according to charging documents.

The man said he only wanted to have sex with her, the documents say. They started to have sex and she tied up his hands. Tran, feeling "used and angry," cut off his penis with a kitchen knife, according to the documents. She flushed the penis down the toilet and drove the man to Providence Alaska Medical Center.

The penis was recovered from the toilet by wastewater utility workers and reattached surgically by 6 a.m. Sunday.

I'm happy to hear that she has been arrested and held without bale. Hopefully she will be tried, found guilty, and sentenced so that she will never do this again.

If she really wanted children with him, she certainly went about it in the wrong way. Then again chances are she's not all that clear thinking. Will have to wait on a psychiatric evaluation. Then can determine her future.
 
ayyy, all I can say is...OUCH. Just the thought of something like that makes me quiver. (Yes, I have been quivering a lot lately with all these threads). I'm anxious for the new 'Male Genitalia' forum :p

Since I'm a medical person it doesn't gross me out. It did come from his toilet after all. I amazed at the fact that they were able to reattach his penis, a very intricate type of surgery. Chances are they would do the same with another appendage. The main risk will be with infection, which would occur when an appendage comes into contact with the environment. Antibiotics should reduce the risk. I would be very interested to learn if the surgery is a success and if his penis will be fully functional.

i'd hate to be the doctor trying to disenfect the damn thing. can't just drop it in some rubbing alcohol and call it a day.

Leaches are used to remove dead tissue in a wound. They are specially bread and sterile. Highly effective in wound healing. The patient that I took care of, that had leaches used of his wound, said that he couldn't feel them.

as a child i saw a documentary about a kid whose finger got chopped off and they used leeches to help heal the wound....
the up close shots of leeches terrified me. this thread is bringing up repressed memories!
