As you can see I have a case addiction (actually bought for a friend and my wife's ipads) but these mix n match nicely...
BTW, my grey matches the grey smartcover well

Is this the version that is currently being sold in stores? All we have in my town is the iPad 2 version but I'm reading that a lot of people say it's compatible with the new iPad. Thoughts?

Great... Now you've got me wondering if I should go with Smart Feather or the Belkin Snap Shield. Somewhat off topic but where did you get those strips that are on your smart cover?

The stripes are a love hate affair for many... I really like them..they protect the case a bit, look distinctive without looking garish. They look techy without nerdy, and can come off if you want - (leather will show damage but I replace with other strip) the poly will allow you to take the strip off without any damage whatsoever. If you go commando on the back, the alum strips match the alum apple back perfectly...

Thanks for the reply, the icarbons look really nice. Do you prefer the strips from iCarbons or do you like the DRO Carbon Fiber smart cover? I like the idea of the DRO but don't know if I want to swallow the $90 price tag. Especially when I could get a poly smart cover and the iCarbons strips for ~$50. Just looking for thoughts and opinions, any are appreciated.

the DRO is a hit or miss in quality acc to some posts here - mine was perfect...but others have said differently. I use it for "dress meetings" where it will go over well. It is STRIKING....but it is heavy - adds a lb or more to the whole pad...

the absolute best bang for you buck of anything I have posted is a grey poly - either one - and your choice of strips...
 
Just remember there is no going back on using strips on a leather cover - it will rip some hide off if you want them back off - once on, you are committed to the strip look of some sort....
 
Did you mod the smart cover?? I have a logo that fell off on my key that looks like the same size of that bimmer logo you have.
 
hmm, not feeling the red back/black front as much as i thought.... maybe ill go for the creme back once it comes in stock

yup...I use BMW lapel pins.....I leave a mini stud and drill the cover for anchoring, then superglue- they never come loose...
