To me, the Nexus 10 is too big and unwieldy, the Nexus 7 too small and cramped. However, if a Nexus 8 (or maybe the next gen N10) came out with a form factor similar to the iPad Mini, I'd be very interested.

Is anyone else looking for a Nexus that's "in between" also?

Yeah, I prefer a 4:3 form factor also, something I never thought I'd say a few years ago.

Yep, I so agree! I preferred the Mini over the N7 screen size. The rectangle shaped of the N7 started to become annoying...the Mini felt more square shaped, which was better, imo.

I think it would be hard for anyone to argue with this. Apple got the iPad Mini size and the aspect ratio right. It is the perfect balance of size and screen layout.

If Google does make a Nexus 8, I just hope they have someone other than Samsung or Asus make it. I would love to see a Moto X style Nexus 8. :D

I had a Nexus 7 (1st gen.) for a short time, and I have to agree with all of you about the aspect ratio of the screen.
For me it was okay for most things but seemed all wrong for browsing the internet.
That's something I also disliked about my iPhone 5; too narrow of a screen.

Don't you dare reply "that's what she said" but does 1 inch really make that much difference?

Yes, yes it does. :D

I'm getting along fine with my Nexus 7 but I'd trade it in a hot minute for 8"--even better if 4:3 ratio--biggest single element the Mini has over the Nexus 7, IMO.

Make the LG G Pad 8.3 in the form of a Nexus tablet and I'd be one happy camper.

16:10 wouldn't be so much of an issue if you weren't losing screen estate to the status bar and nav-bar.

The new full screen API's in KitKit should allow developers to maximize screen space so that landscape isn't so cramped, and portrait is not as tall and narrow feeling.

However, I opted not to wait, and returned the Nexus 7 after 13 days of ownership, and will be getting an iPad Retina Mini, but will be keeping an eye out for the 2014 Nexus 7, because overall I think it's a nice little tablet.

I do like the screen size of the mini and was tempted to get it. Bit the price is just plain laughable. $399? Retina display...it should have had that a year ago when the N7 did. Besides the 64 bit processor, there's nothing revolutionary about the mini. Except in the world of iOS where old tech is praised...ahh to live in the iBubble.

The Mini is $329 not $399 and right now at Best Buy its only $299.

I would like a larger screen but with the same size (in other words, a smaller bezel). The size of the iPad mini is a tad too large to use comfortably hold on one hand, and the Nexus 7 seems to have the perfect size but the screen is small.

I ended up picking up a Dell Venue 8 for $129. I'm hopeful it'll fit my needs (books, web browsing, google drive, streaming music)
