I have the Nike armband and it's a pain to mess w/ your iPod when youre running. I have to take the whole thing off my arm and take the iPod out the change anything. This will be welcome:)

Yeah having a wrist bracelet would really be a handy addition. I haven't really looked at the Nike+iPod thing but this may inspire me to get a nano instead of a shuffle for workouts.
Here's to hoping that this is really true and not just a student design project. ;)

Author mistaken?

Isn't it more likely that the Men's Health writer knows a little bit about technology and assumed 2.4GHz was bluetooth?

I've suspected the Apple+Nike kit is just a left mouse button from a $14 wireless mouse - it has all of the characteristics Apple needs for this product - that leaves two unused buttons on a standard wireless mouse IC.

Ill have to look into this more, but I might just end up getting a nano if these are good. It would be perfect for biking!!!!!! :D

This little device looks like fun :)
It doesn't vibrate, though.

Pulse monitor on wrist anyone?
That would be the next best feature that could be introduced. Heart rate monitor is one reason I hit the club's treadmill. The only thing iPod needs is GPS so it can accurately track distances and plan running routes. :)

luv ya just bunches! xoxoxo

Don't worry SpicyApple... let's go running together and you won't need vibrating thingies ;)

To add a bit of confirmation to this rumour, I just bought a Nike+ ipod kit from the AU store. In the instruction manual it has under the title "Using a Nike + iPod Remote":
You can use a Nike+ compatible remote (sold separately) to control Nike + Ipod wirelessly while you work out. Before using the remote, you have to link the receiver to it.
It then goes on to describe how to link and unlink the remote.
To me this indicates there is some serious substance to the Amp+ rumour, and also that the remote uses the existing receiver.

Can you scan it in?

The Nike+iPod kit does accurately track distances. If you want to plan a running route, try Gmaps Pedometer.
Yes, it is very accurate in my experience. :) I think GPS could be another great way to measure distances.

The link you provided is great for someone who has website access, and doesn't need GE. I'll bookmark it. I used Google Earth to track distances.

luv ya bunches! xoxoxo

Pic of remote Nike+ ?

Found this "watch" at engadgets

So is this coming out or not?

A good guess is that it will be announced during Macworld in January. Though maybe not during the Keynote, since it's been so widely leaked. It's likely that Nike's CEO will appear onstage with Jobs for some sort of announcement.
