are you drunk or something?:mad::confused:

How misinformed you are my dear god...

we steal money?

so...Greeks...Italians... Spaniards all steal money from EU
the same EU thats SELLS submarines to Portugal to make war against the fish...:roll eyes:

The same EU who has no purpose of existence...
and Greeks commit violence where?
In your dreams?

I agree we do not need an apple store in Greece specially now,but saying all those things indicates how ignorant the citizens are about the problems...

now go and call Goldman Sachs if your advanced country can stay advanced...;)

pure missinformation...

Violence when austerity even talked about, people did die before. Amazing. Last was on 10 September. Arrests. Chaos. Where do you live?

I mean no insult. It is pretty country yes. But Apple will not invest in store where there is violence and no much respect of others personal properties or money. Is too much risk for great company as is Apple. Apple is best to invest in China than silly Greece. As you can see from recent openings. Tim Cook knows.

I didn't say there weren't enough PEOPLE, I said not enough MONEY. El Paso is ranked #849 in per capita income amongst Texas cities, with an average annual per capita income of $14388.

Not exactly Apple's best demographic.

But El Paso makes salsa. So is famous place and I think Apple is interested in having the name El Paso in the list of stores. For advertising.

How are you basing that information on? El Paso has a decent strong economy. Do you know how many Mexicans come over and shop over here? We also have Ft. Bliss which constantly brining in soldiers who have money to spend. Not to mention two state universities (UTEP & NMSU) and a Medical School.

Per capita income is horrible measure of the strength of the economy.

While El Paso has a lower household income compared to other Apple cities. But methinks that Apple was more interested in the international market.

Many people drive the 6 hour drive from Mexico to San Antonio just to get to the apple store. So with a large Mexican city right next to a apple store. Apple is hoping they will have the same result.

I disagree in all but macrumors forums are not the right place to discuss such a thing.

I do not know where are you from and I do not care.
Inform your self more.

Apple will invest wherever it thinks money is to be made. Apple is not a human rights organization, it is a business whose raison d'être is to make money for it's investors. ;)

Whether ethics and human rights SHOULD be an issue is a topic for another thread.

I worked in Bologna as an Apple Campus rep in the last year (now I've changed the city I live in because of my new job), and I'm proud I've someway contributed to Apple's choice to open the first not-shipping-mall Apple Store in Italy…

:')

lol omg. Are you serious? People of Greece do not work and steal money from EU. They commit violence and kill when told to work for money instead of getting for free. My country is successful and works hard, but suffers because Greece. So yes, buy toys, please.

Angela, is that you?

Seriously though, You might want to consider picking up a textbook every now and again.

Assuming your goal is for Greece to pay it's debt obligations, you really want to encourage foreign investment and a boost to the consumer economy. Shutting down the economy means no tax revenue, which means either bailout or default. Given your rhetoric, I'm assuming you're not pro-bailout, so sovereign debt default it is. Then you get to play Bailout or Default (everyone's favorite game) all over again with the European banking system as a whole.

This whole international crisis has been such a depressing display of nose cutting and face spiting by children more concerned about whether their brother is punished severely enough than actually addressing problems.

Well, i wouldn't say that per capita income is a "horrible" measure of the strength of the economy. It certainly is correlated with the amount of disposable income available for high-end electronics. Perhaps there is something to your suggestion that the international customers will bolster the El Paso store's sales. I didn't intend my comment as a thorough marketing analysis, just an observation that it doesn't seem that the local clientele will be as affluent as in most other Apple cities. I'm sure Apple sees some value, hence they are going in.

From my understanding El Paso is loyal to apple products. The market study that was done here measured that El Paso was on of the highest.

Whether people are going into debt buying apple products here is beyond me. Apple products are more of a fad than functionality.

I highly suggest the MR team take another look at whether or not new Apple Retail Stores are actually newsworthy. We get it. They're all over the place.

Seriously! They're pure filler. Sometime there isn't any news worth posting. That's fine. I will still come back.
