2 things today, one not a active problem but it still bothered me

1. Shut lid the other day packed RMbp in bag and went out, 2 hours later i got it out and it was STILL ON, unbelievably hot, not done it since but its been a bit weird since then, a bit laggy in 3d games and such

2. Thunderbolt not working under OSX but working in bootcamp!
i have tried booting with it plugged in and not plugged in.

It was working in osx yesterday, since then i have literally installed or changed nothing, just been playing mine craft

USB ethernet adaptor works on both osx and bootcamp however its only 10/100 :(

I have done a short hardware test and it found no problems

Should i just clean format?
 
I believe 1. occurs due to stuck processes, which would also be why you get a laggy experience after. I suggest restarting, or checking the activity monitor for anything using unusually high resources and quit the process.

That was my guess to, as soon as i found out that it was still on, i instantly shut it down and left it 5 mins to cool, it was burning hot!!

You dont have the thunderbolt -Gigbit Dongle.

I have both a usb ethernet adaptor that i use with my macbook air, its only 10/100 speed

But i also have a thunderbolt adaptor for my Rmbp which is 10/100/1000
