Whilst I find MS Software usually (not including MSN) always looks better on a Mac, it still doesn't find par to 'real' Mac Apps.
The comparision between Apps and Programes on a PC is amazing in design, quality and overall build difference.
Anyone ever noticed Mac App websites? They're usually always so sleek and brilliant in design, something that always makes me smile. :)
Simple things eh? ;)

But, I'm someone who doens't find **anything** wrong with Apple Mail! It has all the features I want & more! Especially, the ability to easilly color those messages. (A feature I use most) Red for Facebook, Blue for eBay, Amazon etc.

iWorks is also much better than Office, it's so easy to use and I find I can create 'stunning' looking documents (even posters) with iWork Pages. Keynote, is just great. The only thing is Numbers, I prefer using Excel, quite simply because I was grown up in School with Excel, have done several exams and tests on it, so I guess it's just in me!

Just my thoughts :) :apple:

I've been using '11 beta on my Macbook Pro and Unibody Macbook for about 2 weeks. Startup times are much improved for me, and I do have a decent amount of fonts. The interface is an improvement over '08, but nothing to write home about.

I'm still using iWork for everything, despite the revamped UI in office.

BTW, this release of Outlook for mac doesn't work with Kerio Mail Server, nor does Outlook 2010 beta for PC. Just fyi for any KMS users.

I am glad they are going with the ribbon. I am not enamored with it, but having two radically different UIs on PC vs. Mac was a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE idea. And the toolbox UI in 08 was plain awful (especially the fact that the excel formula bar just always floated right in your way).

To clear things up: yes, VBA is coming back (thank god).

Hopefully MS will offer a beta on this like they have on all their Windows products lately (really enjoying working with 2010!)

Magic 8-Ball says "Most likely."

I dumped Office from my Mac a couple of years ago and have never missed it.

If you are remotely serious about spreadsheets in Excel you are aware that Numbers (or OpenOffice/Lotus/etc.) cannot hold a stick to Excel (except the steaming pile that is 2008).

"Outlook is the best and most powerful email client we've ever used on OS X"

FALSE!

Eudora is the most powerful, flexible and intuitive. Hopefully MailForge will mimic it by the end of 2010.

To Microsoft: please, once and for all, UNIFY the currently mess of interfaces between Office applications. As an example, a single unified spell checker interface with common dictionaries for all Office applications. Likewise for the search interface. And, please, place the sort a list feature inside the Edit menu and not inside the Table menu. IT AMAZES ME HOW ANTI-INTUITIVE Microsoft products are. I hate them, but I am forced to use them for compatibility with the World.

Microsoft software has been running on Macs since the very first Mac was shipped in 1984. There's nothing weird about that. Maybe you're just too young to know that Microsoft's application suite was the software that made the Mac a usable alternative to DOS boxes. If it wasn't for Microsoft's Mac support, the Mac would have never been a success.

That's completely and utterly wrong.

Office came out on Mac first.

Before Microsoft was given the IBM pc monopoly, various versions of Microsoft software came out on Mac first.

I'm going to write the ultimate fanboy comment, and I totally don't care. I just don't want this to be as good as iWork. Something's weird about running MS software on a Mac platform.

i can't see it been way better but I for one will still continue to use because I love it and nothing out there to me is better, Keynotes.

But I am glad to see MS getting serious about making this a good suite. :D

After using 2007 on the PC, going back to the Mac and using the toolbox makes even less sense than it did before. I'm excited to see Microsoft embracing feature/UI parity between platforms.

I am looking forward to upgrading to this version from 2004.

Entourage is, in my opinion, the best email client avail for the Mac.

And, uhm, where can one get the beta version? :)

Hell folks!

you guys complain more than a girl on the period!!!

Office is the best out there? don't know, but indeed, iWork sucks for ppl who work with office and vice versa, I think its all a matter of taste / need....

Yep, this is true.

Back in 1989 all the PC's were using "Word Perfect" and absolutely swore by it. On the Mac I had MS Word and was able to make much nicer documents so much easier. The damn PC users were still telling me how stupid a mouse was too! Their cursor control keys were all the rage. Haha.

Yep, MS Word has been around for many moons, and as much as I hate Microsoft, they did some things well for sure.

Finally, the formula bar in Excel is where it is supposed to be and not floating around the screen, this is the '1' big thing i wanted!

for those of you that don't like the ribbon, seriously, give it a chance. i too hated it at first but it does make life easier and simpler after a short transition period.

cant wait for this, the current version of office is awful with a A!

Dammit, same crap!!!

As I expected this is just Entourage renamed to Outlook.

It's not. The interface might look similar (now), but the inner workings now interface properly with Exchange servers. If you've been having problems with Entourage or Mail losing connections with Exchange, losing emails or appointments, this should solve them. I had all of the above and was relegated running Outlook '07 in XP/Fusion. Outlook 2011 beta has obviated the need for the Windows/Mac two-step.

I tried the beta of Office 2011, and I can say that I can really put one more program off the list that is keeping Windows installed in Bootcamp!

By having the ribbon in Mac OS is huge leap for productivity.

Though I found a big flaw in the beta... When I inserted a new graph in Word document, Excell opens and Word crashes...
