HI,
Since I tend to keep my phones for a long time I would like to chose a color that doesn't show scratches too easily.
Currently I have a 7+ in matte black and it looks pretty bad despite spending its entire life in a case. I first thought that I maybe had a bad first version but Apple exchanged the phone two years ago (after a battery change gone wrong) and the new one has the same issue: Plenty of small spots where the color is gone, the finish is really not well made.

But back to the question:
What would be the best color for the iPhone 13 Pro? Purely aesthetically I prefer the graphite, 2nd in place is the silver one.
Anyone got experience yet how the wear and tear shows?

Really the one part of the phone which will show the wear and tear (depending on if you have a case or not) is the stainless steel sides. Gold, Graphite, and Sierra Blue all have the PVD coating which in theory, should help preserve the longevity there where the Silver is raw stainless which shows micro scratches just from looking at it (joking but not really) although you can polish them if you want to spend that kind of time doing so. The back glass is all the same and if in a case is not a big deal. I would go any color besides Silver but that's just me.

The silver iPhone 13 has no PVD coating it. It is just bare polished stainless steel. People report that when the silver scratches, you can polish out the scratches.

Because of the way Apple produces the gold finish it is suppose be the most durable of all the finishes.

Both the graphite and Sierra Blue have a PVD coating on them which helps reduce scratches.

All the colors will show finger prints very easily.

If you are concerned about scratching the stainless steel, put a case on the phone or you can buy a clear glossy skin and apply to the sides of the phone. Brands like Xtreme skins offer a clear gloss skin.

Thanks for the hint, didn't know about the skins for the sides. I will use a case, but don't want to see scratches when I take it off. So that could be a good solution!

Add-on question: are the iPhones 13 without stainless less scratch prone?

All the finishes, except silver are scratch resistant but not scratch proof.
