$12,500 in a poker tournament at the Borgata in atlantic city last year. It was down to me and 2 others and we split the final pot since we had been playing for 10 hours and our brains were fried. after that i won a $2,000 tournament on full tilt poker, and i've been on a losing streak ever since :p

I know a guy who does cards all the time but won $500 from the slots.

Betting on Arizona (longshot) over the Titans (most likely champion) for the Super Bowl, and putting down a nice sum of money, $1000s, will leave you with a house, or two, if this scenario pans out. The odds are tremendous.

The only time I "gambled" and I won £5 off a scratch card of some sort.

I don't gamble much - usually just sit at the video poker machines at the bar to drink for free. I sometimes go up a hundred bucks or so, but usually lose most or all of it by the end of the evening.

But all the drinks are free, so it's worth it. :)

I won $50 on a dare a while ago. Forget what the dare was though.

I've always had good luck at craps, though I've never played at a real casino...I'd prefer not to play with my money in an environment clearly geared to make money for the house. I did go to a college casino night at a friend's college, we started with $10,000 in fake money and I finished the night with $190,000 after many rounds at the craps table.

$430USD off of $.20 back in 1992. (Legally, I shouldn't have one it; I was 18!)

Family reunion in Pasadena, but we flew into Las Vegas and stayed there. Had two dimes in my pocket, went to the change booth, got four nickels. Two spins from 2 of the nickels in the nickel slots netted me $20. Exchanged those into quarters, and about 4 spins into the $.25 slots won me about $175. Went down to another slot machine, and another 2 or so spins won me the rest. I kept all the quarters because they'd ask for ID if I did. Waited until I left, and my mother cashed it in.

Since then, I don't gamble much, if at all anymore. Living in Vegas kinda desensitizes you. ;)

Beats mine bradl. Best I ever did in Vegas was picking up $285 on a $5 blackjack bet. I don't count cards, but its hard to not pay attention to the deck, and I tend to remember a lot. So I had to quit. I like being able to walk unassisted.

Considering my odds of dying on the way to purchase a lottery ticket are significantly higher than my odds of winning, I don't play often. With my luck, I simply can't risk it. :p

Noticed it but knew you were on the job.:apple:;) Guy was clever. Waited a while before using his acct. for spamming.

I won some money once:

Been to Atlantic City, the Taj, about 4 times this year and actually heading there this weekend as well as the 5th and 6th of January.

Trip 1: Hit 1600 on a slot machine, walked away after 3 days up 2000.

Trip 2: Lost 600, cut trip short to 3 days.

Trip 3: Got up to 8000 on Blackjack from my meager 500 dollar buy in. Gave it all back except for 1000. Was there for 5 days.

Trip 4: Started playing Texa's Hold Em' TABLE GAME, not actual Texas Hold em' and walked with 9,000. I love this game now. If you place a bonus bet and you get pocket aces 30:1, I was playing 25 on the bonus and hit this about 9 times in 5 hours. A-K suited 25:1, etc. etc.

All in all, I've had a great time up there. My dad is handicapped and can't do much besides sit at a table besides me, so this is how we spend our time together. Don't judge, even if I were to lose 10,000's of thousands, it'd be worth it to spend some time with him. Not to mention, I've never paid for my 100 dollar steak and seafood dinners, any lunches, never room service and I have accumulated 40 nights in a suite whenever I so choose. If I ever get low on money, I always head to the poker room and get my bankroll back up, but sometimes it's not always fast enough, so I will play blackjack or the hold em' table game. It's nice getting free Crown and Cokes at the table too.

I hear you on that, I did the online poker thing for a while. Won some money, lost some money. I'm on a bad run of cards now, which is why I choose to not play poker when I'm at a casino.

I won $50 once in Vegas, then lost it a hour later. Being a poor college student doesn't bode well for big bets.

You should do the cheapass thing that I do - play for the booze. Search the web for various video poker rules, learn them, and play at the bar. You don't have to learn all the rules - just a fifteen minute investment in learning will net about a 97% return. Get good and on many machines it gets higher than 99%. Some web sites claim higher than 100%, but you need the right machines, and they're hard to find.

Anyway, at most casinos throwing a twenty into the machine will get you free drinks as long as you're sitting there (as long as you poke at the thing every so often). So I usually bet once per minute or so - at that pace you'll lose on average just a buck or two per hour. And I can drink a LOT more than a couple of bucks worth of booze in an hour. ;)

And many times you walk away with more than you sat down with.

About $4600 or so in the mid-90's after putting 12 quarters into a slot machine.

Used the money to buy a Power Mac 6100/66 DOS Compatible with a 17" NEC Multisync monitor. Monitor still works.

Not me, but my friend that I grew up with on my street who is 19 (seriously, no joke) has won 3 million in poker (both online and live). He won the EPT Dortmund last year - 933,600 euros. He is extremely good at math, went to school for Actuarial Science and then left school after second year to pursue poker. Since then he has travelled all around the world... Here's a video of the final table.... it's pretty crazy to watch someone you know on a poker show... especially when they end up winning and you've known them your whole life.

Video of Final Table

Anyways, that's just part of his winnings. He'd win $50k tournaments some days, sometimes more (these are online). He eventually got up to playing on tables where pots would get up to $25k. INSANE.

I've lost contact with him since he started up his poker life... kind of unfortunate as he was a pretty good friend (Grade 1 though 12). Too busy off gambling and drinking. He is also a very cheap person. He told a local news reporter he planned on buying like a used Honda Civic or something... LOL That's not his plan anymore but I mean for that thought to go through your head after winning so much....

It seems like yesterday when we were in highschool where we found out he won a $5k tournament and all the teachers were amazed. He gambled under his parents CC and started when he was like 16-17... won that big tourny when he was 18 and now he's 19 traveling the world. Must be nice.

If only he'd pass a little cash over here... Hahaha

OK but seriously, if you guys won $3 million from poker and you were 19 years old would you give a few of your closest friends some money? (j/w)

I got a scratch ticket from the WA Lottery called "5 Times Lucky" once. It cost $2, and I won $20. That was the most ever. I've had a few $10 wins from games like Mega Millions and Hit 5, but that $20 scratch ticket was the most I ever won at once.

6/49 Lotto : $1,600

Scratch and Win : $500

You won $1,600 from the Lotto during one drawing, and $500 from a single scratch ticket?

$800 in Blackjack. I was down by $40 so I think I did pretty well. It was a really lucky one, had the right suit or something which increased the winnings by a lot. I don't remember exactly why that 21 was worth so much.
The complete prick of a man I was with at the time of course wanted to re-bet it and got into a big argument with me about it, so I left his angry pathetic drunk ass at the casino and took a friend of mine out for a very nice evening instead. I bought some new shoes too, I still have them!

Gambling isn't really my thing though.
