Having used FaceId, I will say that it is indeed cool.
A step forward? No.
A step backwards? No.
A step to the side? Yes.

There are some moments when I prefer TouchID. Like buying from the store (Tap, hold thumb as opposed to Tap Get, Double Click Sleep/Wake). Or waking up. I hold my phone while laying on my side with my head sunk into a pillow. Which means that FaceID has no idea who I am when I wake up. It only sees half my face.
Also, Laying phone flat on a table is annoying. passcode every time.

So, a step to the side. It's as fast as TouchID, but has a few caveats that don't make it progress.

OP, your "rant" is filled with nothing more than logical fallacy. Ascribing fault to the user just because you disagree with his or her opinion, is the classic definition of logical fallacy. While many opinions on the new phone are subjective, some are in fact hardware or software related. And as such, said problems warrant objective discussion. Problems arise when various forum members like yourself engage in the same kind of mental thinking you have in this thread.

If you have a problem with reading the numerous threads on the same subject, do yourself a favor and stop doing that. It will save you a lot of inner frustration. You can't rightfully blame the forum at large for you being your own worst forum influence (re: continually reading posts you know you have a problem with properly compartmentalizing).

1. it is not that deep mate
2. it is a social forum where i can post my opinions
3. there are alot of people saying...oh face id is a step back i was mainly directing it at them
4. every new hardware has issues (teething problems)

So you've pretty much invalidated your claim that "The problem with the iPhone is the user".

but majority of the problems i have read are oh face id is crap

oh iphone 8 is better miss the touch id

oh i am already bored of iphone x

oh the phone is too fragile

When someone makes a definitive statement about me, without knowing me or what I need, want or can deal with, it instantly makes me suspicious and highly doubtful of anything they have to say.

What happens is, you have others on a tech forum who project themselves onto you and that individual in the thread expects you to think like they do, which if you don't, then they don't see or want to understand your viewpoints.

The X sucks for unlocking when it's rested on a flat surface. TouchID is much better for that use case.

When holding, the FaceID has a higher success rate for me than TouchID.
Why would you want to unlock your iPhone laying on a table? I never understood this point. Whenever i use my iPhone, i take it in my hand and look directly at it. And even if your mobile lays on a table, im able to unlock the X by tapping the oled screen and look at it. It works from many angles and in all lightning conditions. To be honest, im very surprised how well face id works. I own the x for maybe two weeks. And in this two weeks i hade only one time to enter my pin. And that only because i tested the sos function. I can have dirty hands and still unlock my mobile. I can even wear my Ray Ban sunglasses and unlock my X. So in general it’s a cool thing to have face id.

small rant because i cannot sleep

iphone x is great fast, screen, all over good, actually great

most of these threads which i am tired of stalking are problems you subjectively have with the phone

oh looks too delicate
oh this ohh that
touch id i miss it its a step back no it is a step forward

like its a perfect phone..wireless charging, oled screen

oh it is too fragile

these are not even problems with the phone

yes it has some teething problems overall i think it is the best phone on the market

apple always kills it
rofl these threads always crack me up. the good ol "you're using it wrong" argument that the brand loyalists love to use
