Yeah! Do I get to play Plinko now? I'll land it right down the middle.:D

Underguessed the number of poeple by about 4,000 though. I didn't think a phone release would have that much interest. Shows what I know.

This was fun, let's play again soon!:)

You and I are going to the final showcase!!!!

Price is Right rules be damned! I WIN I WIN I WIN I WIN!!!

jk

:D

I hate to revive a dead thread, but rather than starting a new one and getting flamed I'll post here:

So, with the release of the iPhone 3G tomorrow, does anybody think we will hit a new record?

i don't think its likely, but certainly possible. i think we maxed out around 9k people on today which wasn't terribly close to the record so we'll see.

We were over 10,000 online at one point, which is probably the first time that has ever happened on a non-keynote day.

We probably won't see that record broken due to that fact that keynote activities concentrates so much forum activity in the period immediately after the keynote ends, while the activity here is more spread out.

But looking at stats for a given day rather than just a single point in time, I can say that we obliterated all sorts of records today. Number of posts in a day, number of new threads in a day, number of registered users visiting the forums at some point in a day, number of new members...all records smashed.

This is a pretty hectic day and will mostly likely smash all non apple event day records. Currently sitting at 13420 online  which is seriously impressive given the extra factors mentioned above.

I don't get it, it is a freaking phone, not much different than the last one. What can they possibly be talking about that hasn't already been said.

for a lot of people internationally this is their first chance to get one. and its gotten a lot of press, and quite frankly is a pretty decent upgrade compared to the first one.

not to mention other things happening simultaneously: 2.0 software launch for both the Touch and iPhone, and mobile me launch.

if anything there is almost more to talk about than a keynote due to the problems that all the launches are having, rather than pure speculation.

I propose a spin off site just for the iPhone so that I don't have to be bothered.:p

Just thought I'd bring this thread back from the dead and say that the next record is gonna be set on 9/9/08!
I doubt it, the September event has never brought as much attention as MacWorld and WWDC do, the event isn't publicized well in advance, and the iPod line doesn't bring in nearly as much attention as the iPhone does.

aaaand we have a winner!

no records are going to be broken this time around methinks.
