I enjoyed the article, thanks for sharing it here so we could read it.

I do have problems with a few statements in it. Admittedly nitpicks, but:
  1. The 5,1's motherboard isn't really a 6 year old design. It's literally a 4,1 board, so more like 9 years old design.
  2. He says CPUs haven't progressed much in 3-4 years which is sort of true, but it's been 9 years and they have damn well progressed in that time.
  3. You don't really need to "modify" the cMP to add SSDs. I wouldn't consider a drop-in 3.5-to-2.5 adapter to be a "modification" in any computer (nor a PCIe-to-M.2 adapter).

Thanks! The Facebook group link was a bonus, even though I'm cutting back on FB. ;-)

I had already seen the YouTube video which showed me how to upgrade the cpus which might be the only thing that could use upgrading besides seeing that my ram could go from 64 Gb to 128 Gb maybe.

It’s nice to see the cMP getting attention, but it’s a poorly written article with problems with prose (e.g. several sentences are repeated) and technical errors as AB pointed out. Also 5,1 cpus don’t need delidding.

Saw it yesterday on FB. It's a cute little article, it has flaws but it's good for at least one thing: remind Apple that the pros want a Mac Pro they can use. Not an black iMac or Cube 2.0...
For that reason alone, we should like the article and repost it a lot.
