Need a replacement device. Although a huge fan of iOS these two devices are within my budget. 5S being 219 and the latest Moto G for $199. I'm currently using a Samsung Galaxy express prime to get me by but going to pull the trigger on one of these two. Wish I could get the SE but just can't do it financially. I like the idea of ip67, latest OS and newer device but also a bigger fan of iOS. I also know the 5S is definitely aged compared to the G.

Any input would be appreciated.

As of a day or two again microcenter.com had the 64 gig g4 plus on sale for 199 and amazon would price match. If you or anyone you know is an amaozn prime member you can get the new G's for $50 off if you dont mind amazon ads on the lock screen

I think you need to decide between Ios and Android first - That's more important than the hardware.

If you decide Android I can't recommend the Moto G highly enough. It's a great phone and one of my favourites. Does exactly what it says on the tin and does it well.

Get a nice quick UHS sd card and format it as Internal Memory and you've got a great phone with tons of space.

Hmmm.... If you're really into iOS and can't break out, then you're probably better off staying in it.

No contest. Moto G4 with 5.5" 1080p display and 2GB DRAM is closer to iPhone 6S Plus. You also get uSD card expansion, nicer design, Android Marshmallow which is more advanced and stable than iOS 10 and full features when it's upgraded to Nougat. User experience will suffer on iPhone 5S with 4" 640p display, DRAM starved 1GB will cause app and Safari browser tab reloads and 16GB without storage expansion is very restrictive. Only plus with iPhone 5S is it has a fingerprint sensor but that's minor when the core fundamental experience suffers.

Another option that's comparable if not better than Moto G4 is ZTE Zmax Pro 6" with fingerprint scanner for $99. It's Metro PCS but you can get it carrier unlocked. Research if it has the necessary bands for your carrier.

Thank you everyone for the input. I decided on the Moto for the bang $/performance. Also like it's water resistant, expandable memory.

I would've looked for a 12-24 month installment plan for the SE. Hands down the most efficient 4" device one can get. Not a fan of Moto's lack of updates.

Didn't have an upgrade or line eligibility so meant outright purchase. Couldn't afford $400 or more.. So far I'm happy. I'll have to give it a few days.

If you are new to Android install Google Opinions Rewards, they will send random surveys that take about 5 seconds to answer and you get Play store credit. I have got almost $70 in credit from it

There are other ways to go about doing so. Apple has zero percent interest if you qualify for their Barclays Card. I believe there is a $350 SE through Metro PCS in the states here, just have to unlock it. Best Buy had some refurbs too which could just be unlocked. Too bad I didn't see this earlier. Anyways, I like the 5S more than a Moto G because iOS > Motorola phones.

Yea. Thank you but don't have the credit.. Also I rarely will buy any refurbished item. That's just me. Overall couldn't convince myself to buy an old iPhone 5S over a very new phone.

With that said stock Android cruises and the camera seems really good on the G. Think this is going to do just fine. Also for a 5.5" phone it doesn't seem like it in hand.

Post some pictures and a review when you get a chance.

Enjoy the phone. Did you at least get the Pro so you can get a Fingerprint Scanner? With Android 7.0, I think the Fingerprint Scanner gets a lot better. I would save up for the iPhone SE successor next year or just get the SE say next summer if you're serious about an iOS return.

I have both of these phones. I hardly ever use the iphone 5s now.

Good to know. Yea seems pretty solid overall.

Nope. Even the standard Moto was at end of budget. Yea what I think I'll do. Wait and see what they do with the SE. Plus by then rumors will be floating about iPhone 8 lol.

If you can go with the 8, even better. Too bad you didn't get your hands on the new BLU phone. Has better specs than the $200 Moto G.

Missed iOS. Returned phone and snagged the 5S ATT Go phone for $219 and popped my normal ATT sim in and all is good. Was expecting to be bummed with speed but it's fine actually. Kind of surprised. iOS is efficient even on older hardware. Hopefully this will keep me happy until next iPhone or when my upgrade is due and iPhone 7 drops in price etc.
