At least on Samsung devices you have the option to dial it back and turn off that post by using 'basic' mode I display settings. The Moto X would greatly benefit from similar. That being said I still like my moto

Agreed. I used to be anal about display calibration with any panel, but have two 'extremes' at the moment (Moto x and iPad mini 2), I've stopped caring.

I have the X 2013 and 2014, but hard to give up on the 5s to use them. Audio output and camera quality are both superior on the 5s IMO.

I've been putting my Moto X 2014 running lollipop 5.0 and Note 4 running 5.0.1 through their paces and it still amazes me that a device with 2gb ram and 801 processor can store more multiple apps at once in the background without needing to refresh content than a device with an 805 processor and 3gb ram.

Indeed with same 10 apps open my Note 4 stood at 2.2gb used of 2.7

My Moto X on the other hand was : 148mb system / 486 apps / 1.2gb free

So with same 10 apps open my Moto X runs at 1.5gb less memory overhead than the Note 4 .....

Bloat, memory management, color saturation and TW.
Ooops, I surpassed three strikes.

I was shocked when I saw how my Blu with 1GB manages things.

Yeah it is amazing the bloat under the hood. Definitely want to see if they have cleaned up Touchwiz under the hood on the new S6 range or whether the changes are merely aesthetic. They don't need to necessarily clear out pre-loaded software as change their touchwiz knickers from the soiled pair it currently uses.

One can do worse with higher priced devices. Nuff said!

OMG!!??? Just discovered an app called CF.lumen on the playstore and even with the most basic feature (because I'm unrooted) I have managed to calibrate my screen so whites are really white (rather yellowish).

Made the screen so much better. Love it.

I've decided my Moto X 2014 is my 'keeper' android wise and the device going forward that may be traded / sold for other devices is my Note 4. Just using the Note 4 daily has made me appreciate my Moto more so. How ergonomic it is and such.

Just checked the app on the Play Store. Do you think I should try it on my S5? I'd like to make it look more IPS :D

Is there any way to revert back to stock settings if I mess something up?

Yeah as soon as app is uninstalled you are back to stock. It's not doing anything permanent.

Great. Thanks MRU :D I'll try it and see what changes I can make.

I got a shiny new electric car today and it matches the same blue colour as my favourite moto X case :D I think god is telling me something :)

I found another app that does similar to the previous one called screen balance. Its little simpler than the other (I simply adjust it to twilight) but seems to be little heavier battery wise than the cf.lumens one.
