Waiting for the reviews. Looks promising though. It's a real shame there's no X Play availability in the US. Would be a tough choice between new Moto X, last year's Moto X, Nexus 6, or this year's Nexus.

Btw, does anyone have experience with Motorola's headphones (including SOL Tracks?). I'm looking to get a wireless headphones and the ones Moto announced yesterday look nice for $60. Either that, or the Tracks Air. Don't really have the money to spend on wireless Beats or something in that price range.

Waaayyy too large of a device. That's a mistake.

While I personally love the size of this phone, I agree with you considering it's the only flagship offering. There's a chasm between the specs of the Moto X devices and the Moto G, you're only choice if you'd like a smaller Moto device. And I'm not discounting the quality the G provides at its price, but it's still a far cry from both X handsets. Not really sure why Motorola didn't offer something in-between.

After stopping to think about the X some more, I have to say I'm really surprised by Moto. I was just hoping for an improved camera but I think they nearly hit it out of the park (no 5" version keeps this to a triple ;)). No USB-C or fingerprint reader are slight bummers but otherwise, I'm quite impressed. This is exactly what I was hoping the Nexus 6 would've been last year.

And while I think this was a number of nails in the OnePlus coffin :D, you know whom I think this could also impact significantly? The Samsung Note 5. Unless you really like features/functionality of TouchWiz and/or must have the S-Pen, I can't see why you'd choose it over the X Pure Edition. Same size display yet you get some choice in design and materials, basically stock Android, expandable memory on top of what already a lot of onboard storage, and all for MUCH cheaper (at least here in the US) and not locked to any particular carrier. Hell, they even out Samsung'd Samsung, who it looks like are trying to beat the iPhone 6S to market, by releasing this Note 5 competitor before the Note itself.

I'm actually a bit shocked---really didn't expect this. And I'll admit, I don't have any need for another phone but I may pick one up anyways. At $700+, that would never happen but for $399, why not?

Increased competition. I love it. :)

Anyone k now how thick the style version is?!?!? I'm hoping they thinned it out a bit. I'm seeing previews of the camera are not promising, they are saying low light performance is meh which is one of my requirements.

So how much will it cost to bump the moto x pure edition to 64gb? If $399 is the base I assume that's for the 16gb only.

I'm not sure but probably around mode 450? I think I might get one too :)

Personally I don't think I can make any moves until I see what Google reveals with the new nexus 5 later in year.

It would really take a magical device to dethrone the s6 for me this year. The moto x admittedly comes close. But not quite.

Thing is at $399 unlocked it makes more compelling reason as an 'extra' device if you plan on holding onto your S6. Unless s-pen is a big drawer - the device will presumably run near identical touchwiz version as your current S6.

If the Note 5 comes in at say the current s6's $699 base model - you could still nearly buy 2 Moto X Styles

Even if you sold your S6 for $450-500 the upgrade to Note 5 will set you back near $200 - 250 or 50-60% the cost of the Moto x style.

Agree. I got little interest in the note 5 anyway. Too big. If I was going to go with a device that size it'd definitely be the moto x pure.

I'll see what happens with the nexus 5 and the iPhone 6s first before making any decisions.

As a secondary device it is indeed tempting, the moto x. Especially when the sales and deals start to happen. Motorola often has ad great promotions. Will see where I'm at then.

Yeah I'm thinking if they do the same sales as they have done current, you'll be able to pick up the 16gb X Style for $299/349 around thanksgiving / holidays.

The Pure has made me forget about the Note 5. Just waiting to see what Apple and Google have in store.

No Play in U.S. Has my sights site on the Pure, shame as a I kind of liked the former but oh well I have a 2014 X. The Pure is a bigger upgrade, smaller than the Nexus 6 and after I sell that one I do not have a big cash outlay for a new smartie. :)

Im very disappointed that the new Moto X's dont have an OLED screen.

The previous two Moto's displays were not great despite being Amoled.

If going to LCD they can improve colour accuracy something its previous models including the nexus 6 suffer terribly from I don't have an issue.

The Sony Z3, IPhone 6 Plus have great LCD panels. I just hope Moto's is up there with the best of them.

While that may be true the whole mode here the Moto X shows you notifications or the clock while your phone is shut off doesnt make any sense with an LCD screen anymore.
