Does anyone see the problem with these devices/smartphones? I mean seriously, did you take a step back and look at the whole solution and why this was even needed in the first place?
You make a smartphone that has a dual core processor and 1GB RAM. You can now dock it to a laptop/desktop like station. Then what you get is a low end netbook style computer.
I see a big failure in these devices because they go full circle back to the original problem with desktops/laptops - you want a portable device and this isn't the right way to go about it. Why not just invent something like an iPad - of course Apple has.
It's more of a smartphone that has the option to dock but that extra docking option is utterly lame. If you stuck that Atrix phone into a hole that resides inside a tablet, that would make more sense. I see these companies all try hard to be creative but I don't think this is the right thinking - you are technically going backwards in time recreating another laptop/desktop or netbook like feature which everyone is trying to get away from. I don't think these companies invest enough time to think through what consumers want to have. They follow the low minority group of spec whores who love to showboat specs and features that aren't gonna be used more than twice ever.
I watched that demo and it looks like a low end netbook setup - also the fact it runs flash is meh because it runs it choppy with low stuttering frame rates. Experience is key - I don't want to run something that wasn't optimized to run like it was suppose to in the first place. Just because you can slap on flash don't mean you should and I see absolutely no real big deal for me to fork over my money for the Atrix. I definitely would NEVER get in line (if there was one) for the Atrix like I would the iPad/iPad2. In fact, if they unveiled the iPad2 with the new updated screen/resolutions, I would not even need to see it in person - I would wait day one with my money out to buy it. That's because I have faith in Apple to deliver a product that I want to use...not something like this Atrix. In fact, i don't even care to see it in person. The product is so meh.
